good morning! shifting to the early morning for walkies since it’s so blessed hot outside during the day. 67 °F feels great thanks to last night’s thunderstorm.
a new fungus (it’s actually two) just dropped at my local Asian food market! i was there on a halo-halo ingredient mission with my daughters or i would have gotten one to try.
it’s summer, so it’s all about mushrooms! that and driving a delivery van for a restaurant supply house. it not cooking but it’s a job while i wait for school to start.🤷♂️ how about you?
i knew this day would come but i didn’t think it would happen today. on the plus side, there’s no over harvesting when you’re eating an invasive.
a bonus blue staining bolete of some sort. 🤔maybe i should have id’ed it first before breaking it apart?
a combo of two walks in the woods. ostensibly looking for chanterelles but there is so much cool stuff to see and investigate. i also got to stop by an oak where i found jack o’lantern mushrooms. going to make a concerted effort this year to record them at night when they may be luminescent
a couple of treasures i found yesterday: mushrooms and a store that’s been open for two years and i’d never seen until a month ago!
i didn’t realize what this was when i first recorded it. it never dawned on me that this could be an evergreen stump. i’ve started to stalk conifer plantings for other mushrooms, so i reckon i’ll get another chance at some point.
a pattern that i have noticed is that so many of the chanterelles i see are literally on the trail. i wonder if that’s from foragers dropping spores as they walk away with their forage…..🤔
i wish the chanterelle photos i took two days ago looked better. these are but a fraction of the cool items we found just today after last nights rain
these photos are from the last few days of walking. my walking partner, Tucker the Wonder Dog, is becoming increasingly frustrated with my stop and go behavior. i think it may be time for two separate walks per day….
a few from yesterday. i’ll post more later. it was a great walk with Tucker and my daughter
wow, you guys have done a LOT more research. like beer brewing, i figured if people have been doing it for millennia, it can’t be that hard. i made my first miso with red yeast rice and chickpeas about five ears ago. (i’ve since acquired those readings).
like this? new HK Hynix plant that was sold as a chip “packaging” plant. why do all the project permits end in FAB? it appears local politicians sold out residents. i live in a rental and my landlord lives just a few blocks away. most residents are super pissed. this is 90 miles from Shelbyville.
