Christian Stocker auf X: "Die aktuellen Entwicklungen in Spanien sind ein deutliches Warnsignal – wir beobachten die Lage sehr genau und ich bin dazu in engem Austausch mit EU-Kommissar Magnus Brunner, Europaministerin Claudia Bauer und Innenminister Gerhard Karner. Zustände wie diese dürfen in der Europäischen Union keinen Platz haben. Jetzt ist entscheidend, dass Spanien seiner europäischen Verantwortung nachkommt und sicherstellt, dass kein einziger illegaler Migrant auf europäisches Festland gelangt. Gleichzeitig ist klar: Wer es mit den gemeinsamen europäischen Asyl- und Migrationsregeln ernst meint, darf nicht durch nationale Alleingänge das Gegenteil bewirken. Die Entscheidung der sozialdemokratischen spanischen Regierung, tausenden illegalen Migranten einen Aufenthaltstitel zu gewähren, hat sich als zusätzlicher Anreiz für illegale Migration erwiesen. Österreich hat sich mit Nachdruck für den Europäischen Asyl- und Migrationspakt eingesetzt, den wir schnellstmöglich in die Umsetzung bringen müssen, damit sich solche Situationen künftig nicht wiederholen. Sollte sich die Lage in Spanien so entwickeln, dass wir Druck auf unsere nationalen Grenzen spüren, werden wir alles unternehmen, um diese zu schützen – dazu gehören im Bedarfsfall auch temporäre Schließungen der Schengen-Grenzen. Ich lasse das hier mal so stehen. Das ist eine Ausdrucksweise ["Europa darf und wird nicht ein weiteres Mal *überrannt werden*"], die man sonst eher mit einer anderen Partei assoziiert. Und das Ganze wurde auch nur auf der rechtsextremen Plattform X gepostet, hier natürlich nicht.

Die Ankunft zehntausender illegaler Migranten auf spanischem Territorium innerhalb eines Tages weckt Erinnerungen an 2015, als Europas Außengrenze faktisch durchbrochen wurde.

Das darf und wird sich nicht wiederholen. Jetzt hat die Wiederherstellung einer sicheren Außengrenze oberste Priorität.

Many conservatives regard the once reliably right-of-center German alliance as an ideologically diluted force that moved steadily leftward during Angela Merkel’s long chancellorship. This Saturday, an antifascist demonstration in Vienna was disrupted by neo-Nazis. Police appeared, monitoring the peaceful antifascist protesters, then used pepper spray against them and arrested one woman before escorting the neo-Nazis to the metro. 🤷🏻‍♀️ www.derstandard.at/story/300000...

Just leaving this here as another example: Mehdi Hasan meets the AfD's Krah on Al Jazeera's "Head to Head" to, I don't know, discuss whether the AfD is a threat to democracy, because surely he'll have an unbiased opinion on that. Krah is introduced as "one of the AfD's most controversial figures".

Etwas seltsame Darstellung. Zuerst erfahren wir, dass wir es anscheinend mit einer "Generation Rechts" zu tun haben. Dann lernen wir, dass junge Menschen bei den Bundestagswahlen 2025 gar nicht häufiger AfD gewählt haben, sondern dass die Linke bei dieser Altersgruppe besser abgeschnitten hat. 1/

Lange galt die Annahme, die Jugend lege Wert auf Nachhaltigkeit, Gendern und Wokeness – Klischees, die spätestens seit der Bundestagswahl 2025 widerlegt sind. Hier wählte jeder Fünfte unter den 18- bis 24-Jährigen die AfD , in einigen Regionen war es sogar jeder Zweite bis Dritte; nur die Linke schnitt in dieser Gruppe noch besser ab. Was auffällt: Die AfD ist die beliebteste Partei unter den jungen Männern , bei den jungen Frauen gewinnt die Linke. Ist die Jugend ein Spiegelbild der politischen Polarisierung in unserem Land?

Quite an example for the mainstreaming and normalisation of the far right. Compares FdI with "Western Conservatism" and then discusses Meloni's (apparently sudden?) "shift to the right". Meanwhile, Meloni and her party are both clearly far-right.

Inside or outside the tent?
The challenge confronting Meloni is one increasingly familiar across Western conservatism: whether to keep an insurgent movement at arm’s length or bring it inside the tent.

Difficult to ignore
Meloni’s shift to the right was on full display last weekend when she entered a row over an Italian literary festival, denouncing its anti-fascist pledge as censorship. Opposition leaders seized on the intervention as evidence that the prime minister has increasingly been chasing voters drawn to Vannacci.

Wen oder was der neue ORF-Chef als "demokratische Mitte" sieht, will ich jetzt lieber nicht wissen. Aber er bedient damit halt ein Narrativ, das Rechtsaußen in die Hände spielt.

Ein zentraler Punkt in seinem Konzept lautet: "Die Redaktion muss in die demokratische Mitte, weil der ORF für das ganze Land arbeitet. Die redaktionell-programmliche Legitimation verlangt eine neue Präzision im Begriff der Mitte. Gemeint ist eine Methode: faktenbasiert, quellenstark, plural, sauber im Wording, frei von aktivistischer Schlagseite, kritisch gegenüber allen Machtzentren und offen für die Wirklichkeit unterschiedlicher Lebenswelten."
