I’m so happy to finally be able to share that a short Romantasy story of mine will be featured in a @flametreepress anthology! It’s set in the same world as Binding the Cuckoo Flame Tree Press always produces such stunning books, I can’t wait to have it in my hands!
I’ve been experimenting with carving wax jewellery for casting. The Artemis pendent, for the Huntress and the protectress of children, especially girls. The Athena pendent, for wisdom and the waging of just wars. I’m an artist and so I process things in my own way.
Hi, if you’re looking to outsource character art/cover design, I have the capacity for a couple more commissions atm. Email me at gabrielahouston.info@gmail.com if interested
Working in my local art cafe is always lovely. The space, the atmosphere…
Check out my interview with @scribeofhades.bsky.social about his wonderful new book Daytide! open.substack.com/pub/gabriela...
Well, “Debbie”, I’m not sure how you will achieve your goal of making my alternative-history Romantasy a “Breakout Thriller”, but I would love to see you try.
Binding the Cuckoo is discounted now! www.amazon.co.uk/Binding-Cuck...
Have to be unserious sometimes. Mkes it fun for me and the readers
#UKteenchat It was always my favourite era: not just for the fabulous aesthetic of it, but for the sheer energy that permeated that time. The beginnings of women's suffrage movement, the stirrings of social conscience that finally began to address the plight of domestic workers, the science!
Today at 8pm UK time! Join us with some questions on writing my and historical Romantasy! @finlaysonpalmer.bsky.social

Wooing the Witch Queen by @stephanieburgis.bsky.social is a cosy, humorous romp of a fantasy romance. Light and witty, it keeps you turning the pages just to see what delight awaits next. I’ve already preordered book 2! QoTD: what fantasy creature would you be in the court of the witch queen?
I wish professional writing was a bit more like in the 20s, where if you got a short story published, you could support your whole family for a few months. Meanwhile I’m here, on my 5th novel, trying to understand Facebook ads Anyway, please look, please buy, please enjoy. Link below ⬇️
Binding the Cuckoo is a love story set in an alternative-history Gilded Age London. But it’s also a story of women trying to help and lift each other up. Women supporting women is kinda my jam ❤️ #QOTD what’s your fav women-helping-women book?
Thank you, @rachelbowdler.bsky.social for interviewing be about Binding the Cuckoo on the Swords & Sapphics site! www.swordsandsapphics.com/post/binding...
I’m so dispirited by the number of „authors” in private FB groups, who regularly discuss using AI to write/edit/illustrate books. Then debate whether it should even be required to inform the readers. So there’s no doubt: Binding the Cuckoo is written & illustrated by myself
I’m a member of a couple self publishing groups on Facebook, and I’m so dispirited by the sheer volume of pro AI comments. There’s so many who think nothing of publishing AI-written, AI-illustrated slop. Just FYI, no AI was used in the creation of Binding the Cuckoo. All me (and editors).
Thank you Cat for this wonder review! A five 🌟 one always hits different! If you are into an alternative history Gilded Age romance with elements of folklore, the link in the comment ⬇️
In publishing community is everything! Thank you to everyone who has been reviewing and shouting about Binding the Cuckoo! An appreciation post ❤️ This is just a selection of the instagrammers who took part, honestly my love for you all! #bindingthecuckoo #books #bookreviews
OMG Binding the Cuckoo is now no 3 in the Gilded Age Romance category!!! And for the moment still only 99p, if anyone wants to help me get to no 1 👀 www.amazon.co.uk/Binding-Cuck...
Binding the Cuckoo has climbed up to spot no 4 in Gilded Age Romance! Thank you all the lovely people who bought it! And if you haven’t yet checked it out… 😏 link ⬇️ #bookstagram #bestsellersrank #bindingthecuckoo
One of the perks of self-publishing for the first time is that I get to do the cover however I like! #bindingthecuckoo #bookcover #art
I was asked by a few people about if I smuggled some Slavic folklore into Binding the Cuckoo, my alternative-history romance. The answer is… duh 🙄 I present Maletki, a cat-shaped domovoy ❤️ www.amazon.co.uk/Binding-Cuck... #bookstagram
No 81 in Victorian romance! Gotta celebrate the small things! Link ⬇️
