Anyway when I design I'm always lured into the wilderness by the flashing lights of building a good crafting system. One time I made an alchemy system so complex it requires an alchemical circle to make sense. This brought me joy for weeks before I realized it was a nightmare to play.
Okay so asking honestly here... isn't that NOT simulationist but instead narrativist design? And isn't Fiction First a design aspect, not a pillar? Like you could have Fiction First Simulationism right? You just play til you bump into a decision point in the simulation? Or am I wrong?
When @zadkielingreen.bsky.social is like "why not make it so alchemical recipes work like a zodiac wheel". So this is how Fantasy No. 1 is going.
The thing about Cosmic Century Knights having you make antagonists together is your table will collectively come up with something way more fucked up than you ever could have on your own. Thanks @oneshotrpg.bsky.social !
Unrelated: my jazz quartet had our release show on Saturday for our debut album. Here's the sold out audience holding up their vinyls
Every time the conversation shifts to rules, fruitful void, role of the designer, etc I post The Gorgon's Game.
