Remember when Konami made bloody brilliant football games?! Sports titles don’t usually give me the feels but this was such a huge game for me! It was the bridge between me and my non-gamer friends - plus it was bloody brilliant when you came home hammered at 2am 😂

Toejam & Earl is the perfect example why retro games are awesome! Everything from characters to gameplay was unique for this game - nothing is copy and paste from a million other titles! And look at this manual! The time they took to make all this ❤️ That’s proper game design!

Sonic on MD is such a BEAUTIFUL game! The unique aesthetic, the gorgeous art, the amazing music - ❤️ But! Back then, I didn’t LOVE Sonic on MD until the 2nd game I played Game Gear Sonic first and I preferred it. I came back to the MD game after Sonic 2 and fell for it then!

My first console war… My first loves! Game Boy was my first proper games machine and it’s what got me hooked for the next 35 years! But my Game Gear brought me to SEGA and Shinobi, and Sonic, and Yuzo Koshiro! I couldn’t pick between em - they’re both just wonderful!

True Joy Is Playing Virtua Cop 2 on SEGA Saturn!! SEGA nailed the arcade light gun game the same way they did racing and fighting! But the biggest achievement was the home port!! It had no RIGHT to be so good!! Here are my three ways to play - which would you choose?!

God, they’re gorgeous!! I wanted to give both my Shenmues a playthrough this year but it’s August and I’ve not bloody started! I reckon I can still fit it in if I get going! (and quit my job… and palm the kids off on the wife… and sell the dog… 😂 Worth it!!)

Goldeneye on N64 is THE game that made me love FPS! Yes Doom was ace, yes Quake was ace - but it’s the mayhem of multiplayer, trashing your mates, squinting at your tiny quarter of the telly to headshot a camping little punk… … it’s those that made me fall in love!

Ghost Squad on Wii has a special place in my heart! When the Wii first came out, it was a bit of a sideshow for me - the gf got it for Wii Fit, I had Zelda, that’s about it… But a few years later I started collecting its MANY brilliant games - and Ghost Squad was the first!

Quackshot is WAY better than I thought back in the day! I dismissed it at the time as a bit basic - but when I played it properly years later it looks good, plays great and that brilliant sprinkling of exploration lifts it right up! Cracking game!

Ooh I do like an SP!! Especially with that tasty screen! There are some cracking games on this that I missed first time around so picked one up a few weeks back Now I’m practising my SP-owners cool pose “Feel free to stare, ladies!”

Two times SEGA Saturn had the best hardware in the world! Nights + 3D Control Pad is both an essential and beautiful combo! Nights is perfect with this pad (and a bit bobbins without it!) And the MK2 Control Pad is THE way to play SF Alpha 2 - and any Capcom fighter in fact!

I salute anyone who could play Crazy Taxi on a stand-up NAOMI cab!! Our local arcade had this one and I played it after getting decent on DC - I could barely pull off any moves!! You do see em with a seat - I think official?! - but I’ve never found one in the wild!

OMG, I bloody love Crazy Taxi! It’s just everything I want a game to be! I just saw SEGA’s latest teaser for the new game and I gotta admit - I’m getting excited! And y’know, maybe it’ll tank … but screw it! If it does, I’ll just go back to the DC OG!! Ya yaa ya ya YAA!!!

I’m finally getting into Initial D this year after wanting to play / read / watch for ages!! And a nice thing’s happened - I’ve started the manga and my kid has randomly decided he wants to read along 😂 I’ve had to censor a few bits but it’s otherwise been so fun!

Diddy Kong Racing is a million times better than Mario Kart 64! But! It’s not aged well… the handling is a pain and the courses are hit and miss tbh… I think back then I was just desperate for something to make up for the disappointing mess of MK64!! (DKR is still better!!)

Three times Nintendo were total douchebags in the SNES era 🤦‍♀️ Well, she is a GIRL remember 💩Ugliest console redesign ever! 👊🏻 Getting cocky about SF2 … and then SCE stuck it to em! 😂

I flippin loved Virtua Racing Deluxe on 32X!! Having this level of 3D at home just blew me away and the handling was so good - AND they added cars and tracks!! (But whisper it… I now think MD handling was better and it managed the clipping more effectively! Shhh!)

This is such a brilliant game! Motocross Maniacs was one of those Game Boy games that only one kid in school had and EVERYONE was crazy jealous wanting to play it! I got a lend of it one weekend and even that was BIG news!! 😂

You must play SEGA Rally on SEGA Saturn! THE best handling of any racer round THE most brilliant tracks of any racer with THE best soundtrack of any racer! I’ve been playing for 30 years and it’s still as fresh and exhilarating as day one And still … totally unmatched!

Xbox 360 had an absolute stack of brilliant racing games - like, ridiculous amounts! But there isn’t a shred of doubt in my mind that my favourite was an ageing arcade racer from another century… Dayyytoooonnnaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

The exceptions that prove the rule?!? Xbox racing was pretty goddamn awesome!
