Just started reading Becky Chambers’s A Psalm for the Wild-Built and I feel like y’all could’ve sold this to me better if you had told me the monk is horny all the time

after I die I think
I’d get claustrophobic
being stuck in a coffin.
I’d scratch at the door
as I miss my ferry ride
across the Styx.
let me reach out for the roots
of trees around me
hang on until the universe
goes cold,
let me haunt the lovers
I left behind
their nieces, nephews, and niblings
telling you how I say your name
over and over again every night.
lock me in a coffin
after I die
because my truths
would shake this ground
upon which you leave your flowers.
don’t let me complain
about who I was
and who I could’ve been

I just finished de Bodard’s Navigational Entanglements and it did not disappoint my gay little heart—it’s just a novella but still she manages to write a slow burn enemies to lovers romance
