@ some point I'm going to do my Mad Max Universe Lego set w/Lego versions of Mad Max, Furiousa, Lord Humungous, Immortan Joe, Dementus, Wez w/motorcycle, The Gyro Captain w/Gyro Copter, The Feral Kid, Aunty Entity (Tina Turner), & maybe Master Blaster. This is a cry for help, if it wasn't obvious!🤣

#MELBROOKSis100 I think that we really missed out on a Mel Brooks Indiana Jones parody. Maybe between History of the World: Part 1 & Spaceballs after Temple of Doom came out in '84 with its heart-ripping out & brains-eating silliness. It could've been a magnificent addition to his parody collection

Next 2 reads: Kurt Vonnegut is a little blind spot for me. I absolutely LOVE The Sirens of Titan, & I read Cat's Cradle & the short story Harrison Bergeron in my 9th grade Science Fiction lit class. That's it. I read 154 pages of Slaughterhouse Five last night before I sat it down. Hoo-boy!
One of my 10 favorite ✍️ ever, James Ellroy has a new 📖 out, Red Sheet, & I'll eventually read it, but I was disappointed when I found out it was ANOTHER Fred Otash 📖. His 3rd straight. Otash should have been a 1 📖 character. Move on, James 🙏 BTW, The L.A Quartet & The Underworld Trilogy are GOLD.

Currently re-watching The Rockford Files in chronlogical order for pure enjoyment. There is no other reason why I'm doing that. None whatsoever.
We made it out of the building & dared a look back. Axel Karlsen was floating above the stone floor just outside the ruins. It seemed that he had no urge to follow us, or maybe his ghost was somehow tied to this place. Ronnie & I hurried down the rock outcroppings down to his boat & took off! 23/23
Out of the corner of my eye I saw a golden treasure chest filled with gold bars as Ronnie & I tried to get out of the building! Obviously, that had not been there before. I almost stopped, but a 2nd furious axe swing from Karlsen shattered my camera instantly into a million pieces, & we ran! 22/23
He hefted the axe & swung it viciously, hoping for a decapitating blow! I ducked the 2 axe heads & felt my hat fly off my head in a rush. I bolted underneath the swing & met Ronnie at the top of the stairs behind Karlsen. We barreled down the stairs with him at our heels! "Ye, crafty rascals!" 21/23
The pirate speak would've been laughable if I wasn't about to be murdered. Ronnie & I separated almost as if we read each other's minds. Karlsen could only go after one of us. Of course, he chose yours truly! He drifted toward me & it was then I noticed his torso had no legs! He was floating! 20/23
What emerged from the stairway almost made me collapse through the floorboards with fright! It was Axel Karlsen, or his ghost! He carried the infamous double-headed axe & the noise we had heard was Karlsen banging it against the stones of the building. "Ye come to steal me booty, did ye?!" 19/23
It was an idealized laugh that someone would use to portray themselves as a pirate. A voice shook the rotted wood under our feet: "Avast, ye scallywags!" I couldn't move. A sound came up the stairway from below. Not footsteps; the sound of clothes shuffling about. Also, a metallic ringing. 18/23
Ronnie & I were on the rickety top floor admiring the sight of the "Noc" through gaps in the building perched on the cliff edge when we heard a sound from beneath us. I swear to God it sounded like a laugh. Ronnie looked at me & I looked at Ronnie. The laugh came again. Louder. Distinct. 17/23
What I didn't know was that this was the 81st anniversary of Axel Karlsen's death, which took place at the hands of a vengeful & jealous underling, who used Axel's infamous double-headed axe to cleave him in half, & that every year on this day Axel Karlsen's spirit returned to get his revenge! 16/23
The building had long ago been picked free of everything but rats, & those were huge! It'd been over 80 years since Karlsen last visited here. It was well known locally & probably a hangout for teen drinking parties. There was evidence of that around. We searched every inch of the building. 15/23
