We live in growing zones 4-5. With a nearly full shade all native pollinator garden in front. This morning while watering I saw this amaryllis, I did not plant it, and it is not zone hardy. I can only think it is a small payment from the squirrels for all the damage they do to our vegetable garden.
Camping at what use to be a CCC camp, now a state park. The near by city has a sign as you enter proclaiming access to the wilderness. 🤪 Northern Minnesota is where the fun is at.
It has hot and dry, today it’s cool and raining. Good time to bake zucchini bread. Zucchini fresh from the garden.
The only bird feeders in our yard are the sunflowers and echinacea. The bees are all over the latter right now.

Our garden seems to be one of the few places where I can escape the shit show we are living in.
This is the MN State flower. They are grow in areas that are not great for walking. In Minneapolis right now you can walk on boardwalk and take photos like this.

Happy Earth Day We spent some time at the MN Capital today, protesting the lose of protection of the BWCA from sulfide mining. The water needs to be protected. Whatever is in the water, will soon be in our bodies.
Chequamegon Bay, Lake Superior’s south shore, Ashland WI. The bay is still mostly covered in ice. The open spots have a few Tundra Swans and geese, early migrants headed north. A very pleasant view while enjoying morning coffee.
