He is SO much better at politics than SKS. A small (and in the grand scheme of things fairly insignificant) change in taxes for business, but absolutely brilliantly positioned and communicated. I liked SKS but this feels completely different, and unless you’re a nerd, people vote on vibes

I keep hearing that the U.K. has the highest debt ratio amongst developed economies. This is definitely not true. We ARE paying higher rates on our debt thanks to “the moron premium” introduced by Liz Truss, but that’s a matter of confidence not mathematics.

A day out. D1015 Western Champion. Birmingham Snow Hill-London Paddington-Plymouth and return via the same route. A very long day out with our 63 year old locomotive running at full speed on proper coaches. Just fabulous!

Birmingham. One of Britain’s most multi cultural cities and according to various far right grifters a hell hole of Islamist terrorists held a half marathon today. As we ran through the city we were cheered on by people of all ethnicities and a wonderful time was had by all. Beer and balti later.
Lübeck HBF. Diesel-hydraulic 218.366 awaits departures for Rostock on IC2262. Today, 17.03.2026. Not long left for these 50-year old locomotives. This service is a diversion due to engineering work, it would normally be electrically hauled. The electric locomotive is behind the 218.
This seems relevant in both the U.K. and US right now. The US has moved beyond refugees via anyone brown to everyone now. ps: I didn’t agree with Tony Benn on very much, but on this he was spot on.
