If only he had his "Lovey" Howell. Seems like the someday [soon] cast away -- cast off -- could use the counterbalance.

From Wikipedia: Not much information was revealed about her life before being marooned with her fellow castaways, but she introduced herself in episode 6 of season 2 ("Quick Before It Sinks") as "Mrs. Thurston Howell III, from New York, Palm Beach and of course, Paris, mon cher". She also mentions in episode 17 of season 2: "You've Been Disconnected" that she spoke fluent French and Italian, hinting at a classical education. In episode 9 of season 3 ("Ring Around Gilligan"), Mr. Howell mentions her having studied at Vassar, saying "Mommy warned me about you Vassar girls and your long gym classes". ... Although spoiled and preoccupied with social status, Mrs. Howell was also kind and genuinely cared about the well-being of her fellow castaways.

I was thinking something similar back when Google partnered with Reddit for data-licensing and AI. Then, I was reminded of that famous quote by Jefferson. "Whenever the people are malinformed, they can be abused with their own government." [Likely from S2, E11. Credit to Norman Lear.]

Post-credit scenes keep viewers in their seats on the promise of something extra, of maybe a preview to a sequel, but they also let the casual moviegoer see just how much work and talent goes into making a Hollywood blockbuster. I've got the Country Bear Jamboree on my mind after Zootopia 2's...

A literal nod from Judy Hopps, or Officer Judith Laverne Hopps of the Walt Disney Company's Zootopia franchise, placed in the post-credit scene of Zootopia 2 with Judy looking over to a framed picture of a member of Disney's Country Bear Musical Jamboree. At Walt Disney World, Trixie and the Sun Bonnet Trio -- Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah -- sing "Try Everything" from the original movie. The song was recorded by Shakira and written by Sia. It was certified platinum three times in the US and became a hit globally for Disney.

In its 45 years, has there ever been a story on anyone or anything holding a byline that runs 13 names on an event given 112 separate stories, briefs or posts by those 13 professional journalists at CNN? Maybe @brianstelter.bsky.social or @oliverdarcy.bsky.social knows the answer, as it's a tell.

Tonight is the anniversary of the attempt on my life orchestrated at the BHH, occurring just inside the Polo Lounge. I awoke in the ER of Cedars with both hands cuffed to a gurney. I only learned months later, this was on a bogus citizen's arrest on an unconscious me. For anyone who thinks I forgot:

See, here's the problem. I agree, completely so, with @kenwhite.bsky.social on this topic. When I see this picture, however, I see several 'rough & tough' looking individuals in street clothes attacking a man who resembles my accountant. The latter is who I was taught to help, the others...to fear.

Long an admirer of Barry Diller's, read his book "Who Knew"...although Maer Roshan's THR cover story is a great read on its own. 'Tech is binary. 1s & 0s... They're overseeing culture w/o ever having touched it. It's a system designed for predictably & efficiency—the opposite of creative work.'

Brendan Carr's authority is only over the x-fer of 28 licenses from Redstone to Ellison. Under Donald Trump's claims, it's illogical for Carr & Trump to not be embracing Larry Ellison's ownership—a longtime booster/friend of Trump's. After all, Shari's the villain as cast. A bribe? It's a shakedown.

Replying to Josh @tpm.bsky.social ...I, apparently, offended the WaPo's Philip Bump. Refusing to read Bezos' WaPo, I didn't know it was seen as a critique of Bump. He says he is an expert on political rhetoric; yet, his response was to block me. Like too many here, Phil is only here to promote Phil.
