Passage from "The Dark Queens" by Shelley Puhak. It reads: "There were some Frankish men who dressed, and lived, as women. One even resided in Radegund's abbey, and the offhand way his story is mentioned implies he was not the only one. In another case, a person biologically sexed as male was buried with all the trappings of an older woman. The opposite, however, does not seem to have been true; or, at least, while there were accounts of women disguising themselves as men to enter monasteries, there are no surviving accounts or archeological evidence of Frankish women dressing as warriors. And Brunhild was not only dressing like a warrior, she was acting like a king in trying to ensure peace in the realm."

Here's their explanation (with alt text!). I dunno. It doesn't seem to me that the Easter season readings are unusually baptism-focused, besides the Vigil of course.

Am extract from "Sundays & Seasons", the Lutheran liturgy resource, about Thanksgiving for Baptism. It reads:

For Lutheran Christians deeply committed to the weekly ritual of confession and forgiveness, the option of thanksgiving for baptism offered as a part of the gathering rite in Evangelical Lutheran Worship may raise some questions.

This rite offers an alternative to the rite of confession and forgiveness and is particularly appropriate for use during the Easter season and at other times when the Sunday readings have strong baptismal themes. Thanksgiving for baptism is designed to replace the rite of confession and forgiveness at the beginning of the service; the former rite contains far fewer references to confession and forgiveness than the latter. Congregations who have a strong desire to have more direct words of confession and absolution in their worship might find it appropriate to include such language in the prayers of intercession on those days when thanksgiving for baptism is used at the gathering rite.

Thanksgiving for baptism recalls some of the significant scriptural images of water that are foundational to our baptismal theology—creation and flood, exodus and baptism of Jesus. It also gives liturgical voice to the power of water to sustain life and the sacramental power of water connected to the word in baptism to renew God’s people. In this way, it reinforces Luther’s understanding of the continuing character of baptism and its presence in all of life for people of faith.

There, found the story!

Passage from Harpo Marx's autobiography, "Harpo Speaks". It reads: "At that time there was a very popular comic strip called 'Knocko the Monk,' and as a result there was a rash of stage names that ended in 'o.' On every bill there would be at least one Bingo, Zingo, Socko, Jumpo or Bumpo. There must have been a couple of them on the bill with us in Rockford and we must have been making cracks about them, because when Art Fisher started dealing a poker hand he said, 'A hole card for—"Harpo." A card for—"Chicko." One for—' Now that he’d committed himself, he had to pass “o-names” all around the table. The first two had been simple. I played the harp and my older brother chased the chicks. For a moment Art was stuck. Then he continued the deal. A card for 'Groucho' (he carried his dough in a grouch-bag), and finally a card for 'Gummo' (he had a gumshoe way of prowling around backstage and sneaking up on people). We stuck with the gag handles for the rest of the game and that, we thought, was that. It wasn’t. We couldn’t get rid of them. We were Chicko, Harpo, Groucho and Gummo for the rest of the week, the rest of the season, and the rest of our lives. Later, when we decided to make it official, and have our Art-Fisher names put on the program, the typesetter made a mistake, and left the 'k' out of Chicko. The power of the printed word being what it is, 'Chico' is the way it has been spelled ever since.

She lists the contents of the murder victim's pockets, tells the reader that an important item is missing, and taunts us with the clue as follows: "Here Lord Peter Wimsey told the Sergeant what he was to look for and why, but as the intelligent reader will readily supply these details for himself, they are omitted from this page."
