Can you spot the changes between these two clips?
They’re not huge individually, but together they took me most of the week 😅

Volgaï@generic-henri· 18d I’m out of town on holiday this week, so there hasn’t been much game dev happening and I'm starting to feel the itch
I'm trying to remember that taking a proper break is part of the process too!
Unrelated gif of Kiko saying hi

Volgaï@generic-henri· 24d I made this little video to show my game for an upcoming playtest, and putting everything together like this genuinely helped with my game dev impostor syndrome.
There’s something really neat about seeing months of scattered work suddenly look like an actual game in 20 seconds

Volgaï@generic-henri· Jul 15 I’ve been trying to add more small city scenes to my game recently and it’s a complex balance:
I want the city to feel urban and a little messy, but still fit the cozy side of the game
So now there’s a definitely-not-shady park seller who only sells solar cells and toys

Volgaï@generic-henri· Jul 9 Added a free camera mode and since i've been working on characters for the past few weeks, I made little character vignettes
I know I can still do better but coming from pure programmer art, it still feels like a huge step !
Also my partner said they're cute so it's already a win

Volgaï@generic-henri· Jul 4 I'm pretty hopeful I'll have a new playtest ready for Kiko’s Promenade early next month!
If you’d like to try a chill exploration game about wandering through a small city and helping people out, you should definitely click here:

Volgaï@generic-henri· Jun 30 Getting closer to a new playtest, which means a lot of small interactions are finally starting to fall into place
Here are a few that I haven't shown yet, without music because I wanna try to do it myself first for a bit, and haven't finished yet!

Volgaï@generic-henri· Jun 25 I’m still very bad at UI, but I’ve been trying small changes to make it feel less placeholder and clearly the biggest improvement so far was just finding a better font
It’s wild how much cuter everything instantly feels
#gamedev #indiedev #Godot

Volgaï@generic-henri· Jun 23 Tried to add a lil scooter and immediately spent too much time just zooming around instead of working on the actual game 🥲
Not sure if it’ll stay exactly like this but I already love its little face!

Volgaï@generic-henri· Jun 18 One of the things I’m happiest with in Kiko’s Promenade is that the city is starting to feel like somewhere I’d genuinely enjoy wandering around
I loved finding those high places to just observe the world when I was a kid and I'm starting to get the same feeling here !

Volgaï@generic-henri· Jun 16 My little exploration game has changed a lot lately!
It even has a title now: Kiko’s Promenade; and a much more colorful city to wander through.
It’s a short, chill game about meeting residents, helping out, and taking your time.

Volgaï@generic-henri· Jul 10 working on a cozy little city exploration game and just finished a playable vertical slice 🐾
if you’re into games like Little Kitty, Big City or A Short Hike, I’m looking for a few folks to try it out and fill out a short feedback form. it would help a ton! 🙏
DM me if you're interested!

Volgaï@generic-henri· Mar 28 Making progress on my little city exploration game and started adding side activities.
The latest one is like squash but the ball goes blublub instead of swoosh

Volgaï@generic-henri· Jan 31 Making a demo for my small city exploration game and scope creep is too real:
Player takes item A to Ms. S and gets a new path
But now they need a reward for this other quest with Ms. S
Oh, a hat could be cute
I now need more hats, can't have just one
And a menu to manage the ha-
🙃
Ms. S says hi

Volgaï@generic-henri· Dec 21 It's my first #ScreenshotSaturday and for this I chose the least exciting part I could think of: Dialogues 💬 !
Joking apart I'm just so happy of how they turned out that I couldn't not share !
And thanks to the #Godot community for making it mostly easy 💚

Volgaï@generic-henri· Dec 12 So apart from my little bots I've also tried adding some animations to my trees in order to make scenes look a bit livelier.
They look more alive than windy which was my goal but I think I'm okay with it 🙂
#gamedev

Volgaï@generic-henri· Dec 9 So I’m being very responsible and the bots definitely needed that little cleaning animation when they see one of the duckling gang’s graffiti.
I hope the players won't use this to mess with them 🙃
Also the graffiti is an expression of my true art skills so don’t make fun of it 🥲

Volgaï@generic-henri· Dec 6 Being a responsible game dev means spending time on useful things, and it can be quite hard.
For example, I made those little bots to liven up some of my scenes and now I have to fight the urge to spend 4 days giving them cute interactions with each other and the player 🥲
