Bit more urban fishing this morning. Caught a few fish, also saw a few walks of shame and the 24hr Maccies was rammed! 😂
Oh yeah I also got a couple more books. Only three more to get to complete the collection now! 🤓
Great day at Global Birdfair. Got two new pairs of binoculars and picked up this awesome piece of glass artwork by my good friend Dunc Smith. Also got hit on big time by the lass at the ticket booth when we got there. Nice to know I've still got it! 😎😂
Bit of urban fishing this morning next to the A45 Coventry Road in Birmingham, on a canal that winds through old industrial estates and part of HSfucking2. Took a while to work out the right colour pattern and type of lure before I started catching loads of Perch. Until a pike bit the tail off it! 😖
Pointless going to bed when it's still 30°C, so am just gonna stay up playing Cities: Skylines all night, cos I am back on that bullshizzle
As it's too hot to do anything strenuous, here's a short clip of Sid & pals having a jolly old time
Bought a floating mirror for Sid. You drop it in for a few minutes a day and it gets them to exercise their fins by making them think there's another male on their turf, so they start displaying. Just look at this magnificent creature!
If I worked at this aquarium store, I definitely would've abbreviated the word 'assorted'
Spent the morning re-planting, reorganising and aqua-gardening. Removed the Phyllanthus floating plant, added a Hygrophila and Alternanthera on the left, and the final plant - a Peace Lily. It's a hydrophyte, so as long as the roots are in water it'll grow above the surface. Happy with this now!
My view from the sofa of Sid and his buddies just hanging out in their new pad. Felt a bit selfish keeping it all to myself!
Stormcast Flesh Tearers complete with custom double-ended chain glaive and freehand banner!
Sid loves his new air pump, he hasn't let any of the others have a go yet!
I've only seen one of the shrimps today, and when I asked Sid if he had any idea where they might be, the little bugger tried to hide!
Today I have a very special treat for you all; BONUS FISH INSERTION! I fell in love with this little dude as soon as I saw him, so I reserved him with the shop until my tank was ready. I think he looks punk af with that bright red mohawk. So, I would like to introduce you all to.... SID FISHOUS! 🤘🏼
Today is Fish Insertion Day: Part Deux! We now have Three-lined Corydoras and Cherry Shrimp, and all have settled in very quickly and seem happy in their new home. I've also added some more stem plants and a couple of nice floaters! 😏
The bio cycle is settling in now the first fish and new plants have had a couple of days, and the bacterial bloom is dying off meaning the water is clearing nicely. I took the white background off, it didn't look right to me. Decided I'll add some more mature plants as well next weekend
I think I finally understand parenthood because all I talk about now is my fish and I keep forcing people to look at photos of them. Anyway, look at two of my Otocinclus children
Happy "Fish Insertion Day" to all those who celebrate! I have 6 Harlequin Rasbora and 3 Otocinclus (one was hiding) for now. The water is a bit cloudy due to a bacterial bloom, but that's normal for a new setup and will clear soon. All being well, 6 more Harlequins and 3 Corydoras will be next!
We have water! We have plants! I still need to get some large stem plants for the background, but for now it's all set up and running. Once the Phyllanthus Fluitans has grown a bit it'll hopefully settle in one corner of the surface and provide some shade. Fish Insertion day approaches!
Made some changes. Built up the rocks around the main trunk, swapped out a rock at the back to provide another cave, and ditched the black background. The filter unit will be hidden by plants eventually, and I think it just looks cleaner
Right, I think that's the hardscape done. I've created a couple of caves for any breeding fish, and left some clear sandy areas because I'll probably have some Corydoras. Will look at again it in the morning, then fix the wood to the rocks if I'm still happy with it
We now have a cabinet stand for the fish tank, and I'm working on some aquascaping ideas. Progress will be made on the setup this weekend, and I have a target of next weekend for fish insertion!
