I haven't seen the movie and I don't actually have anything against him but I'm cackling anyway.
It's rare that I like the twists in mystery books but I liked this one! The characters weren't super engaging but the dark academia setting and the slow exploration of the supernatural carries the book easily. Ending might not be for everyone but I really liked it. 4 Stars
Amazing cyberpunk/dystopian setting, interesting characters. This book was great, I loved it, until the last two chapters and the thing I really didn't want to happen happened. Took the book down a whole star for me. 3 stars
Saw Iron Lung and it was a really solid horror flick. My friend pointed out that it felt very old school in it's pacing which I liked cause it built dread. Was shot really well, was pretty to look at, the acting was good. Surprisingly good considering it was mainly Mark. Go check it out!
If you're looking for a more traditional autobiography of Dick Van Dyke, this is the one. Very interesting and vulnerable at times. If you like his career I highly suggest giving it a listen. 4 stars.
This book was a journey. It's a young girls POV the whole time as she and her family flee to Australia as refugees. It goes from really whimsical to entirely too real over the course of the story. The parentification and trauma was gutting to witness. A story worth reading. 4*
This was a weird one. The 80s movie is the first 40% of the book and I loved following Atreyu on his adventure and then the last 60% of the book is Bastian's adventure in Fantasia and he's so unlikeable my enjoyment tanked. first 40% of the book is 4* last 60% of the book is 2*
I love Dick Van Dyke and I loved listening to this book. It gave some good perspective on things, some food for thought, but mostly it's stunning to hear that he was born when the Empire State Building just started being built and that he's also a CG artist. A Lightwave guy, apparently. 4 *
The Centre started super intriguing but didn't go how I thought it would. The twist wasn't quite as gruesome as I wanted it to be, and while I really liked the journey these women went on I feel like there wasn't actually an ending, the book just stopped. 3*
2026 Books A well written story about a young woman who goes to find out the truth about her grandfathers legacy. I liked how the story was told as a story within a story and the twists and resolution felt plausible and satisfying. It took me to several places as I read it. 4*
