Unemployed do-gooder, helper of refugees. Colorado. Multipotentialite--or is that the ADHD? I'm in my third act, or maybe it's my fourth. Maybe it's the epilogue. I don't have a job.
Now I have the same hairstyle as all the other women my age, but it’s a good cut so hooray for that anyway.
I still have that jacket. It has embroidered Looney Tunes characters on the back (I worked for TIme Warner, got the jacket from my employer).
I wear mostly workout clothes. I decided I'm going to wear the pretty clothes, even if it means being ridiculously over-dressed. Today I mostly watched TV and did stuff online. This was my ensemble: a nice summer dress and a trendy crochet cardigan (b/c air conditioning makes me cold).
My favorite piece of public art in Denver is the Wynken, Blynken, and Nod statue in Washington Park. It honors author Eugene Field and one of my favorite poems (and Doobie Brothers' song). I wish I could have a smaller version in my yard.
I need to find a safe trail to ride my ebike somewhere near Denver. The Cherry Creek and S. Platte River trails are too busy. I'm a lifelong cyclist, but the ebike intimidates me. It's quite unwieldy compared to anything else I've ridden. I need a no-pressure place to get comfortable with the bike.
At Costco today, I bought this bottle of prosecco to have at the ready for when it happens. I don’t really drink anymore, but I will make an exception when the time comes.
Have you seen this Ikea doormat? When I did, I gasped and my brain said, "Purchase! Immediately!"
This year, World Refugee Day focuses on the right to seek safety as a common safeguard for all of us. (1/3)
Today I donated my beloved mountain bike to Bikes Together. I got very choked up when I said goodbye to her. I never held it against her that she bucked me off in Breckenridge. The scar from those 10 stitches in my shin will always remind me of our wonderful adventures together. Long may she ride.
It’s a veritable treasure trove of emergency preparedness! I think I need to replace the alcohol wipes and insect repellent pouches, but otherwise everything looks OK. The pouch can be mounted to various places inside the car. Nifty! I’m going to add a couple of N95 masks.
While cleaning out my car today, I came across this little pouch. I’ve had my car for seven and a half years but I totally forgot the dealer included a first-aid kit with some extras. I think I’ll open it and see what’s inside and if any of it is still any good.
You guys, the basement is finished and today we set up our exercise area. Who wouldn't want to work out or do yoga here? I hate to exercise, but I'm actually looking forward to it now (the basement was a dark, depressing dungeon before). There's also a large TV that's hooked up to a working Wii fit.
I saw this play at the DCPA last night. I fell asleep thinking about it and woke up still thinking about it. It tickled the language teacher part of my brain just as much as the part that mattered when I was an immersed language learner abroad. This play is deeply thought provoking.
No more knotty pine, nicotine stained ceilings, or asbestos. It’s starting to look like livable space.
I bought this dress today and I'm going to wear it to the Jon Batiste concert with the CSO tonight. My husband thinks it looks like something a 6-year-old would wear. Maybe, but I'm wearing it anyway, with black tights & sparkly shoes. I am 65 years old and beyond giving a fuck what anyone thinks.
OK, I am a person of a certain age, so my brain immediately thought of something quite specific when I saw this shirt. Anyone else? Does this remind you of something?
It's the little things that make a birthday special. Thanks, @denverite.bsky.social.
I almost just fainted in Target. Hey friends, this is your reminder to not forget to eat if that’s something you haven’t done today.
I really admire the misplaced effort this little pine tree has been making for the last three years. Curious to see how this turns out.
Columbine is already blooming in my yard. This is at least a month early.
Put you tree in a sheltered spot, wrap the pot in some frost fabric or burlap and it will be fine as long as someone is watering. Signed, someone who can't stop landscaping and planted a crap ton of stuff after removing her Denver front lawn (202-2024) and has waited out a lot of weather.
Trying to figure this out officially just brought me to tears. Overwhelm is legit.
