She/her Finds bones and squishy bits of dead vertebrates fascinating. Often found with laden backpack (yes, it IS full of rocks, or bones) staring at the ground
This is our Finn, short for Finnegan McCool. He’s more of a splooty booty sort of dude.
Where have you been my whole life?! Consider me a convert of the electric kettle movement 🥰
Glad they’re okay! That sounds super scary and burns hurt like the dickens 😣🤕 On an unrelated side note, this was the conversation between my SIL and I about my new haircut last night. Another ode to autocorrect fails that might give y’all a chuckle
It’s up… and, 24 hours later, it’s down 😭 Yes, it was 🦀 patterned wallpaper. My youngest daughter-in-law put it up in the reno while I was ill this week. I feel really bad for her wasted time. She hasn’t seen it yet. I haven’t the heart to send these pics the hubs sent me 😬😞
What I’ve been up to over Winter Break… well, in part.
Busy doing non-academic, non-geo things yesterday and today. Yesterday, finished the last drywall sanding in the Barn-do and, today, sealed the cement board of walls around the new tub. Should be ready to tile in a couple of days 💪🏻 Not much else to do the weekend before Finals Week 😁
I’m sorry this happened to you. I’ve been as circumspect as I can when posting too for similar reasons. Glad to hear from you again, pocket friend! And here is a sleepy Finn.
Supervisor showed up yesterday to the Barn-doh rehab 😁
More mudding today and found an awesome chair at the secondhand store yesterday
Today’s it’s super humid. Did a little sanding of drywall before the big heat of the day hit. Between the plaster dust and sweat, I looked like I was battered for deep fry by the end 😆
We also found a never used, special-ordered, sliding glass door and a window. However, the find hubs is most proud of is “his” door, which he calls the “Door to Narnia.”
And some cool tile too. Here’s some of the mosaic tiles (for a dash of color in a white backsplash wall) that hubs found at local thrift store and some colored glass tiles (just the blues but there are salads of other colored tiles too) that will eventually be used in kitchen and, maybe, bathroom.
So far, we’ve began demo downstairs and mudding upstairs.
Tiling finished ✅ Got to wait for it to cure a couple of days but the kiddos shower should be grouted and sealed by the time the week is over. I’m totally skipping out on the grouting and sealing part though, if I can help it 😄
There is something absurdly satisfying about tiling. Most everything I do is cerebral. I appreciate being able to use the hands for some crafty-ness. Dad’s side of family are builders (and some farmers). Wanted to go into that trade myself but was seduced away by paleontology 😉
No birds but definitely blue and beautiful 😉😏 Though, pretty sure it’s not what you are looking for 🤷🏻♀️
My absolute favorite student response to whether science should continue pursuing the “Chicken-asaurus.” 😂
A former student adopted one of my fish that was getting too big for my aquarium. After a time, the 🐟 died, as everything does. They just popped by and dropped of the ashes from Swim Shady (renamed Leia). I think this is the most wholesome thing I’ve seen in a long time.
