Every time I log into mortgage website for our house I get this message to "lower my payment" and am reminded how insane mortgage costs are now. Bought this house in 2019 and refinanced in 2020. My mortgage payment is $2k. I'm rather sure my neighbor is paying $10k+ a month for a smaller house.
My parents grew up in Southwest Minnesota and the family used to use own/operate several farms covering thousands of acres throughout the area. And some of that acreage that use to grow corn is now ... golf courses. 9 or 18 holes. On former farm land. Data centers are not the problem.
