This is basically my weekend. Oh, plus some theatre. But every non-theatre, non-sleeping moment will be spent with this amazing novel which I have somehow never read until now.
Cars from the 50s lined up in the market. Gee, what film set in the 50s is currently being made in Toronto by an Oscar-winning writer/director? No idea.
Found a really cool newish bistro/wine bar in Hamilton’s Jamesville called Lucky Duck. I had a lot of questions about the menu.
Made it to Hamilton for opening weekend of Hamilton Fringe! Gonna start my 5-show day with some laughs, via Izad Etemadi, Julia Pulo and lots of theatre references!!!
Today’s non-Fringe show. Slowly coming back to normal. This will be a discovery for me, since I only know a handful of Cohen songs.
Caught the first performance of the concert version of HEATED RIVALRY: The Unauthorized Parody Musical. Haven’t laughed that much in ages. Plays all weekend at Soulpepper, then Just for Laughs in Montreal. 🏒 🔥 🕺 🥵
First patio, and first Negroni of the season. Going through Fringe program to see what I need to catch up on.
Love me some unconventional venue Fringe shows. This one is being performed on the Esplanade, around the corner from CanStage.
Lots more Fringe reviews at @thestar.com review hub, including my 4 ⭐️ (out of 4) rave for EVIE & ALFIE. www.thestar.com/entertainmen...
I mean, why do I even bother having a @criterionchannl.bsky.social subscription in Canada, when licensing means we don’t get certain films? Where’s THE THING (which I own on Blu-ray) or THE BIG CLOCK? And where is THE STRAIGHT STORY, as advertised in the intro?
Was stuck for hours on a via train on opening night, so am glad I could see this on its final performance day Luminato.
Have probably seen more productions of this play than anything else. And I never get tired of it.
Two-show Shakespeare day @stratfest.bsky.social begins with The Tempest.
Tonight I’m going to be refreshing this page like Patricia refreshing her email RSVP’s for her infamous E4 party.
Yay! In the lobby of my next show I found a stack of these Fringe programs, just in time to plan my schedule.
