Christian by Baptism. Lutheran by conviction. Sinner in bondage/Saint in Christ. Lover of college football, books, coffee, beer, good food, sarcasm, & kindness.
The Dark Is Rising sequence. Read The Grey King for a Newberry Award project in 4th grade or so and fell in love. Have reread them almost as many times as Lord of the Rings.
This remains one of my favorite cartoons of all time for just this reason.
Chambers has another series: Wayfarers. Not nearly as hope-core as Monk and Robot, but they’re good books. This is the first:
“Raising Hell” by RunDMC. This very version, on cassette. First “clear” cassette I ever bought.
The girls got me a chocolate Butterfinger donut at HyVee. I am loved and seen.
An obscure but close second: the 1992 Nebraska Class C state track meet. I was a qualifier in shot put. Note who won, and the other event which he almost won. As a junior. I’ve always wondered if he might have been a really good decathlete. The athletic ability was always off the damn charts.
Yet another reason to root for my Huskers: every last one of our boys wears a proper baseball uniform, including short pants & stirrups/long stockings.
@purwho.bsky.social How exactly does one “Boiler Up”? Because I would very much like to do so.
I got stuck on this one because I mistrust both parties almost completely.
Last year he was invited to join a group of NOLA folks recording “Rocky Road to Dublin” for a movie. Tonight he’s part of a group that helped “Sinners” win an Oscar, and I couldn’t be happier for them.
RevSpawn the Younger has spent the last 3 months working her tail off on her high school’s production of “Les Misérables.” It was astonishing how well they pulled it off. Very proud of our Madame Thenardier.
There may have been several instances of me singing “Pod-cast biz-ness / what’s that biz-ness…” in rehearsal. #commentariat #iykyk
Not listed but a critical part of Tubi’s offerings: Thundarr the Barbarian.
Nebraska v. Iowa MBB going color on color, red v. black. Looks SO good - we should do this for football, too.
