The largely Black, brown & immigrant-powered workforce keeping airports running demand money, power, & respect from airlines & their contractors paying us poverty wages while doubling CEO pay. Pass the Good Jobs for #GoodAirports Act & set standards for pay, healthcare, & Paid Time off!
Airport service workers are demanding an end to poverty wages & unaffordable healthcare. The Good Jobs for #GoodAirports Act will hold airlines & contractors accountable by setting standards for fair wages, healthcare & paid time off. It's time airlines pay their fair share!
"It’s time for airlines and their contractors to take responsibility for the working people they rely on to make air travel possible. The Good Jobs for Good Airports Act will set wage & benefit standards for airport service workers at major airports nationwide.”
Airport service workers are standing up for money, power, & respect. While contracted airport worker wages have stayed flat for 20 years, airlines have doubled CEO pay. That's why we’re demanding fair wages, healthcare, and paid time off!
We’re standing with @chuygarcia.house.gov @markey.senate.gov Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick in support of the bipartisan Good Jobs for Good Airports Act to hold airlines and their contractors accountable & set standards for fair wages, healthcare & paid time off.
HAPPENING NOW: Airport service workers, from wheelchair attendants and catering workers to ticket agents and mechanics, alongside our allies @cwaunion.bsky.social @unitehere.org @iamunion.bsky.social are demanding an end to poverty wages & chaos at our airports!
TPS holders who are represented by a union should contact their union representative. If your work permit and deportation protections end, your union may be able to negotiate unpaid leave and other benefits while you explore your options. Find your local: seiu.co/FindMyLocal #ProtectTPS
No one should have to choose between their health and a paycheck.
The promise of America should belong to everyone who helps build it. Every worker is owed dignity, respect, affordable healthcare, and the opportunity to build a good life for themselves and their families. We're still fighting to make that promise real. #AMERICA250
Access to cool water is a basic workplace right and critical against heat illness, whether workers are inside or outside. We demand access to cool water at all times for every airport worker!
An attack on birthright citizenship is a direct attack on communities of color whose labor, traditions, hardships and victories helped shape this nation for generations. We aren't fooled by this administration’s attempt to purge people of color from our country. We belong and will not be erased.
America's strength has never come from division. It comes from people uniting. When workers stand together across race, background, and geography, we win better wages, safer workplaces, and stronger communities. That's true today just as it was 250 years ago. #AMERICA250
We’re the ones generating wealth for airlines, yet we’re the ones struggling to make ends meet. Make that make sense. @charlottegov.bsky.social @32bjseiu.bsky.social
DYK? Many people with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) are eligible for other immigration options. While consulting with an immigration attorney is best, this free online tool can help check if you may qualify for other immigration paths: iAmerica.org/pathways #ProtectTPS
73% of Charlotte voters polled support requiring airlines to provide living wages & paid time off as part of their Charlotte International Airport lease agreements! It’s time for Charlotte City Council to listen to the people who put them in office!
This is an important step forward. We’re determined to end poverty wages and will keep fighting until we win! ✊🏽✊🏿✊🏼
"Workers don’t want to risk their health making billions for out of state corporations, while we can’t even pay to keep our AC running. I am glad the city is taking this important first step to setting a fair wage for workers across the city." Janae Van De Kerk, PHX Airport Worker
"I live paycheck to paycheck, & not a day goes by that I don’t worry about how I’ll pay for rent, bills, medication, & food. I’m tired of helping make the airlines & their CEOs richer & richer while I struggle. The system is broken. The city can fix it." Nicole Ray, PHX Airport Worker
TODAY: Airport workers are excited @cityofphoenixaz.bsky.social heard our demand to end poverty wages at the airport & is taking steps to raise wages across the city. Airport workers from @seiu.org & @unitehere.org are united & will keep fighting until every worker has a real living wage!
We’re not asking for luxury. We’re simply asking for standards that treat us with dignity, reflect the high cost of living, and allow us to live with peace of mind, a roof over our heads, and food on the table. @32bjseiu.bsky.social
June is #PrideMonth. As rights are rolled back and freedoms face attacks, we stand with LGBTQIA+ workers and communities fighting for dignity, safety, and justice. Together, we organize. Together, we fight back.
The same politicians who praised immigrant workers during the COVID pandemic and continue to benefit from their labor are the same ones spreading lies about them. Tired of this type of hypocrisy? Join us this week for Seven Days in June: seiu.co/7days #HealthcareNotHate
We should be able to stay home and recover when we’re sick. As wheelchair attendants, we work closely with elderly and passengers with disabilities. Paid sick time helps protect both workers and travelers from the spread of illness!
Working people have a question for politicians who voted for the Big Ugly Bill last year: how long should working families have to wait to have access to care? Funding more ICE cruelty over healthcare, hurts families and creates a sicker, less healthy nation. #HealthcareNotHate
The turnover rate at Charlotte International Airport is so bad, some employees only last days. High turnover at an airport creates real security risks. Diane said it right: nobody wants to work for $12.50/hr! @32bjseiu.bsky.social
96% of Charlotte Douglas International Airport ABM workers that service @americanair.bsky.social surveyed recently reported that they often have to walk outside on the tarmac to get to the planes they clean! @32bjseiu.bsky.social
Low wages = high turnover = airports less safe. This is why we’re calling for higher wages. It’s time for Charlotte City Council to step up and stand with workers as they negotiate @americanair.bsky.social new lease this year! @32bjseiu.bsky.social
🙌🏽 During #AAPIMonth, we recognize SEIU Executive Vice President Joseph Bryant. His leadership reflects a truth we can’t ignore: racial & economic justice are inseparable. At a time when rights are under attack, building solidarity isn’t optional, it’s how we win.
🙌🏽 This #AAPIMonth, we recognize the AAPI community not just for contributions, but for leadership in this moment. When freedoms are on the line, AAPI workers are helping to lead the fight for justice, protection, and opportunity for all.
They call it fashion. They call it culture. But who actually creates it? The people working. The people building. The people making it all possible. Not billionaires. 🔗 Go to the link. Add your name. laboris.art #LaborIsArt
