Looking through some photos I took in January 2020, I found this from a gig in Canterbury. Someone here might recognise who this is 😀.
I saw them supporting Greenslade in 1977. To be honest, I don't remember anything about them (although, to be fair, I don't remember seeing Tangerine Dream at the Albert Hall in 1976, but I know I was there!)
The book I'm reading has some weird type-setting and pagination going on. Who in their right mind splits the word 'the' at the end of a line? I'll reveal which book it is later 😀.
Digging through boxes of old photos as it's too hot to go outside. Found this photo of me from the late 1970s. Dates from the time when I was called "Hairy Simon" by my friends. Actually, they still call me that - despite looking more like Brian Eno these days!
Looks like another day in the 30°+ zone. The walking boots are put away, yesterday's mosquito bites have been treated. The blinds are down. A day to sit in the cool shade (if there is any) and read. This should keep me out of mischief for a while 😀.
A new Laurie Anderson record is always welcome, and this live one from her 2023 has just been released. One of my top ten artists of the last 44 years.

Yup. Still have the two posters, but they've been back inside the cover for 50 years now 😀.
Today, when not out walking, I have been listening to these toe tappers 😀. Pat Metheny/John Zorn. Trevor Watts (a new cd from Jazz In Britain). And six sides of Soft Machine.
Excellent! I have the Recommended Records issue from 1979 - complete with all the picture inserts. And here's a photo of me with it and modelling my Faust T-Shirt 😆
My habit of keeping music ephemera inside LP sleeves, paid off again. I just found this Pete Frame tree of Deep Purple inside the Fireball LP. It's a double page spread from Sounds dated 17th March 1979 - which is probably when I put it in there 😀.
Also have these two. And Peter Gabriel's "Passion" where I first heard a Duduk in 1989.
Not this time - although I do have a Djivan Gasparian CD. It was this one 😀.
At this venue! Not a great photo I'm afraid. It was packed - and a fab evening. Lockdown was looming.
This beautiful LP is the one that, for me, goes with this book. Of course there are other records that also go with it - and I have those too 😀.
I first read this novel about 25 years ago, and I am reading it again. Set in the early to mid 1970s - my own introverted teenage years - when I started to explore music. It struck a chord (an augmented seventh 😉). I have the perfect LP to go with it. And it's NOT the one you think! (Photo later).
