I watched From Russia with Love yesterday. I liked it better than Dr. No. It was ok. This one had more of the familiar Bond tropes/cliches. So maybe that's why I felt less chilly towards it? It felt familiar. Overall, James Bond, at least the Connery Bond feels like straight camp to me.
The photo arrived. 😍 I actually own a Greg Gorman photo. Now I need to get him framed.
I just bought an art for my new place. I really love Greg Gorman's "Just Between Us" photography book and found a signed print of this photo reasonably priced. I would absolutely buy some prints of the spicier photos from this series but haven't found them for sale anywhere. Gotta keep lookin' 👀
Finished Cline's The Girls the other day. I liked it. The writing was really good. Though it did feel like 'what if Veronica by Mary Gaitskill but the Manson family instead of AIDS?' So I think I like her second novel The Guest more than The Girls but it's still a pretty solid book.
Saw the new Gregg Araki movie, I Want Your Sex, at the Castro Theatre tonight. It was playing at the Frameline film festival. Gregg did a Q&A after the movie. Haven't been to the Castro since it reopened. They spruced it up, looks pretty nice.
Granted it's been 30 some years since I read The Vampire Lestat but I don't remember the Lestat fucking his mom thing in the book? I remember them being close but not *that* close. Is this something they did for the TV show or did I totally block that aspect of the book from my memory?
Stopped by Green Apple to buy one book. One singular book. Un seul livre. But some how I left with seven. 🤷♂️
So I've never actually seen a James Bond movie before. That changed tonight. Watched Dr. No and wasn't feeling it. But, Criterion Channel has 2 other Bond movies up at the moment and I feel like maybe I should watch them too before I totally dismiss this franchise. Maybe they get better? 🤷♂️
This 👏was 👏 the 👏 He-Man movie 👏 I 👏 have 👏 waited 👏 FORTY YEARS FOR 👏 Loved it. Some choices were made but they were minor. Overall they fuckin' nailed it.

I dropped off a couple ancient posters to be properly framed and holy fuck is custom framing expensive as all fuck 😳 I've had the Bauhaus poster since high school and the Peter Murphy poster I got when he did a signing at a record store when Dust came out.
A Criterion release of The Last of Sheila is long overdue. Needs to happen.

Watch's Schrader's Cat People tonight and naw. That was not a good movie. But the Bowie song over the end credits was good and 80's John Heard could get it. 🥵
I was listening to a podcast the other day (can't remember which one it was 😅) but they described Adventures in Babysitting as Martin Scorsese's After Hours meets Ferris Bueller's Day off and that is the most accurate description of this movie of ever.
Did y'all know that in addition to Kanopy there's ANOTHER free moving streaming app you can get through the library?! It's called Hoopla. Just found out about it tonight because I wanted to watch "Little Darlings" and the only place it's streaming for free at the moment is on Hoopla.

I just finished watching Hamnet. I wasn't into it for the first hour, first half of the movie was frankly middling but Christ, that second half? I can't remember the last time a movie made me cry so much.
Watched To Live & Die in LA . It was a coked up fever dream noir which, fun, but the script was horrible, no character development at all, dialogue was cliché at best but it had a vibe, I didn't dislike. It was like an impressionist painting of a noir film filtered through a very 80's sensibility.
Going to a sleep disorder clinic tonight so they can hook me up to monitors and whatnot to see if they can figure out my insomnia.
