I've heard about the Edsel all my life but never knew this tidbit:

ord had the Edsel built on the same assembly lines as its standard Ford and Mercury vehicles. Quality suffered, since workers had to switch tools, then switch back without slowing the production line. This led to Edsels being shipped unfinished, with parts in the trunks for dealerships to install.

We've already frozen six quarts, giving away another quart or so, eaten a bunch, had friends pick - and this is today's harvest. Perfect raspberry weather so far in NH and the drosophila fly that had us panicked isn't much this year

You (they) would enjoy Ellora caves in India - this Buddha shrine was carved deep into the cliff face. The barrel vaulting is unnecessary for support, strictly a visual effect presumably copying wooden buildings. It creates interesting acoustics.
