I used to write about video games. Now I just play them. I sometimes post about music as well. PC | PS5 | Switch
I'm enjoying the new Path of Exile league - Curse of the Allflame. The best thing about it is the change to socketed items. Because you now put ANY coloured gem into any sockets (most sockets are white) - you can actually use those quality armor drops you get, without needing x chromatic orbs
Recent game purchases (left to right): Suzerain - Political RPG/Visual Novel. Excellent writing. Resident Evil: Revelations - Port of a DS game. Cool setting but the gameplay feels a bit stiff Sea of Stars - Pixel style 16 bit rpg. Not played yet Blasphemous II - Metroidvania Souls like.
Found this while clearing out my attic recently. If I did only pay 30p for it then..bargain! I used to listen to The Orb all the time when I was in college, especially "Adventures beyond Ultraworld"
I don't think this is appropriate attire for a spec ops mission in the frozen wastes of..er..somewhere (I wasn't paying attention) #ResidentEvilRevelations
Game #8 finished this year - Resident Evil 5 Hilarious, campy voice acting, linear, dull level design and some of the worst boss fights in the whole series - especially the last one. BUT..the gunplay was fun. I had fun (for 90% of it). And it cost me £3. 7/10 Off to punch a boulder now 😂
Because it's pretty hot right now, I'm just playing games casually for a couple of hrs each day. Been going through the "piss filter" games of the late 2000s/early 2010's. I've done Deus Ex: HR so I'm now playing RE 5. Somebody described this period as the "golden shower of graphics" 😂😂
I finished Metro 2033. Really enjoyed it second time around and I caught more of the story as well. The game also reminded me that one of the things I like most about post-apocalyptic games is this idea of finding hope in the darkness of a shattered world. Something worth fighting for.
Been replaying Metro 2033. Completed it once on PS4 but many years ago. Am enjoying this playthrough on PC a lot. The game feels very immersive and creates a layer of tension that keeps you on your toes at times. Also found some cool Easter eggs. Fallout (nice posed skeleton) & The X Files.
Finally, I beat Thunderblight Ganon. The last Flurry Rush followed by a bomb arrow did the trick. He was tricky and reminded me of a Souls boss. That's all 4 Divine Beasts defeated. Now I just need to finish some shrine & side quests, get the Master Sword and take on Calamity Ganon.
Witness my growing obsession with black and white gaming hardware and accessories. Everything must match. Apparently 😅
Saw this game on the Nintendo eshop and couldn't help but wonder what happened to Nintendo's reputation for quality control on their platform? Maybe that policy took a vacation. I mean, this is pretty blatant. You should see the trailer as well. Comedy gold 😂
Well, I was going to pull the trigger on a Switch 2 but then my dog ended up injuring his leg because he's too daft to realise that running around my small garden at 30 mph isn't a good idea. He's ok now but had to have a dew claw removed. Now I'm £320 worse off. Ah well. Animals come first 🐾🐕🦺
Human form, bear or werewolf? How about all 3? That's the fun of playing Druid. I love the Werewolf 'Lunar Assault' ability which uses an arc of moonlight to freeze enemies. Nice design. #PathofExile2
Also, I think the devs might be Souls fans. I'm sure "Praise the Sun" isn't a coincidence 😉👌
QTP with a game that made you a gamer in your childhood Just something moving on a screen was magic enough for me..(it was the 1970s 😅)
"Don't get distracted! Here's a cute picture I drew for you," says Diana. Oh, alright then. You've convinced me.
I started playing #Pragmata recently. I'm about 4 hrs in so far and really enjoying it. Love the characters - Hugh & Diana have a good chemistry and combining their skills seems to work really well. Looking forward to playing more 😁 [Also: nice Resident Evil Easter Egg below - 2nd image]
Been levelling Spiritborn - from the Diablo IV dlc (Vessel of Hatred). Focused the build on an ability called Razor Wings. Seems a bit busted judging by how quick I killed this Dungeon boss. Either that or I need to up the difficulty level. Think I might have to now 😅
Been watching Frieren on Netflix. It's very good. Highly recommended. The characters, story and setting remind me of a JRPG.
I'm warming up to FFXIII a bit more now. The Paradigm system makes the combat a bit more interesting. I still don't think it's good but it's more engaging now. Lightning is thoroughly unlikable as a protagonist (so far). I get why she's like that for story reasons but, still..
I started playing an indie game called Project Songbird last night. It starts off as a walking sim and then quickly changes into...survival horror. I wasn't really feeling the game and then suddenly it changed and I was hooked. @lycanofchaos.bsky.social - might be one for you to keep an eye on
EXplore. EXpand. EXploit. EXterminate. Not necessarily in that order 😉 Oh and don't forget the flesh eating bird people. Although I'm not sure how many "teeth" this guy actually has..🤔
I'm so glad I chose one of the slaver races then 😂 Yeah talking of which you might like this screenshot from AOW4. I met the "free city" of "Slavehold". You don't need to be a genius to spot the contradiction here 😂
4 games I wish I could experience all over again for the first time. [FFXI is there because it was my first MMO, had an amazing community and I have great memories of that game. But I could easily have picked WoW instead.]
