Stumbled across the most astonishing set of records on FamSrch yesterday. They're just called "United States. Migration Records 1893-1909" but what they contain is testimony--the actual Q&A people gave when they were detained at immigration and had to justify being let into the US. #genealogy /1
On the upside, all these searches led me to discover the Proletarec, a newspaper published by/for Slovenian laborers on the South Side of Chicago. We want bread AND roses.
My favorite #genealogy tip--always search by address--came through for me again today. After finding my great-great-aunt Fanika's address in the 1910 census, I used it to find this newspaper article, about a thwarted burglary. She would have been one of the servants inside.
