A flashback from 2018 where the very lovely Jennifer Jackson Whittier wrote about us in Bluffs & Bayous. "The more I travel and get to know people, the more I realize that in the South knowing how to grow things is in our blood." We love growing tea. It is a tough business but we do love it still.
We love a tea farm visitor. 🐞 While tea plants naturally deter many insects thanks to compounds like caffeine and tannins, ladybugs can still help by feeding on aphids and other soft-bodied insects when they are present. Welcome friend. Do your thing. 🥰

Past few days have not been great at the tea farm or for our community. Been impacted by a recent Tornado. At the farm, all humans and pets are ok. Our home and the Tea Shack have damage but are still standing. Other structures are damaged and clean up work is extensive. Brookhaven & area is hurting

We are making the much loved Mississippi Sunshine Yellow. This is an Award-Winner of teas that takes 5 days to process. This is the Sous Vide part of the process. Which is where the tea is bagged and spends time in the Water Immersion Circulator. It will be rolled and then dried next. #USATea

Happy Earth Day from our little piece of the Earth! Plant some native plants, grow a tree, protect some habitat. Every small difference can be positive for our planet.
In an effort to reintroduce native trees back to the tea farm, we planted 30 Eastern Red Cedar today. This is all part of an overall strategy to replace some of the native trees that were here before we were. It is great for local habitat. We are excited about this and can’t wait to do more.

The 1st field photo is from Oct of 2014. The large Oak sits with bare cow pasture land below it for the last time. The 2nd photo is Feb 2025. It takes tea plants 5 years to come to full production. Half their time with us was spent just chilling and growing. Now we put them to work, growing USA tea!
