The speed of writing code has never been an issue. You can write 10,000 or 20,000 lines of code, but if you are building the wrong thing for the user, it means nothing. Once you know you’re building the right things, then you can bring in AI tools to speed up the delivery.
Clear writing is more important than ever. There are a lot of AI generated posts, emails, messages out there, and they are painful to read. Brevity is more important than ever. Which means that you understand who you are writing to and make it easy for them to understand it.

Long list of requirements is quite common for engineering roles these days. But what they really need: Someone who can learn a new tech if needed by being resourceful and use LLMs. And at the same time, have good people skills + problem-solving abilities to make an impact.
This is the reason why tracking LLM token usage as a success metric doesn't work! It's Goodhart's law: "When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure." Measuring the wrong things inspires people to try to game the system.

The only regret I have about writing online is that I didn't start sooner. It's been almost 4 years since I began sharing my thoughts publicly, and it's led to so many incredible opportunities, relationships, and experiences. Forever grateful that I started 🙏
