Good to see both 16 year olds start. My theory is Peltola came back out of shape, which would explain why Servania has been preferred. He and Ordaz probably need to build up fitness so they start. Wonder what Turner did to get in the doghouse...cuz he in the doghouse.
Here's a rumor from the other site. Two ways to look at this news and I'll give you both sides.
Did you know this is the 30th anniversary of DCU's first MLS Cup? Do you think DCU knows? Would be a nice thing to celebrate or at least acknowledge but what do I know.
Two 16 year olds on the bench for DCU, which is fun. Stroud on the bench over Turner and Clark is less fun.
Castillo is a 2010 born #8. He's a tall, rangy MF who loves getting on the ball, is difficult to dispossess, and has a ton of tricks. Better going forward than defending and probably needs to get a bit stronger before seeing 1st team minutes. An exciting prospect regardless.
"But wwhat will I do when the World Cup ends?" Find the game. It's all around you. Bethesda SC vs VA Marauders. USL League Two MD Soccerplex
Apropos of nothing: DCU unveiled a sharp looking third kit late last summer, wore it a handful of times, and will apparently never wear it again. What a waste of a good looking kit.
DCU, for all the talk of talent deficit, have some real bargains on the team. Servania Rowles Hopkins Hefti All great value in relation to role. Even LOUIS' number is reasonable. The club has a window to add high end talent this summer and be frisky come playoff time.
Baribo is back. Is Markovic the 6 and Peltola the 8? LOUIS not on the roster at all. Two keepers on the bench...again.
Oh, BlueSky is back. It would be worse especially since he publicly announced a reset in August. Buuuuuut...Montreal just did this last week and shamelessly acted like they haven't said the same things for the last decade. You think Levien has any shame at this point? (He does not)
DCU HG Oscar Avilez is named to the upcoming U16 USYNT roster. Again, I don't think the 2010 born(!) winger will get many minutes with the club this season but is an exciting prospect for the future.
"LOUIS! My man! Great seeing you! Listen, I'm actually here to catch a flight back to Cali so let's touch base when the team is there in preseason and again when <checks notes, sees DC have 0 matches in Cali this year>...well let's get a Zoom call on the calendar for the summer! Keep grinding!"
Some notes: -Was the Doctor on the same flight as Munteanu or did they both time their arrival in DC really well while booking their flights? -How long will the Doctor be visiting the US this time? -Don't the airport arrival post if no supporters are there.
Knew he wouldn't be on the waiver wire long. He wasn't perfect but he has real qualities that play well in the League. I enjoyed watching him play the position.
As for training, the club Insta has some footage of who is there, including the 2010 born winger below. Also saw Gavin Turner in the background. Be interested to find out what Academy kids are there.
I'd comment on Coach Weiler's vision for total football. But I have no idea what Coach Weiler's vision is since he hasn't had an introductory presser yet. I guess it's good that he evaluated Clark and wanted to bring him in? I guess? 🤷🏾♂️
I know it's official but can the club just say, "we've hired a new coach and he starts ____" Or we can just allude to it until he's literally standing on the sidelines.
DCU officially announce the changes hinted at this spring. This structure is very in line with most MLS teams so the club isn't being cheap here. As always, this will die or thrive based on Levien's commitment to funding a long term plan.
First half analysis: Neither of these teams are very threatening going forward.
Why do we harp on DCU's lack of an MLSNP team? Aboukoura is from the Academy and now DC will either: -Have to pay Loudoun to sign him -See another MLS club sign him (and DC get nothing for him) -Watch Loudoun sell him on to Europe (DC gets no transfer fee) No bueno.
Tonight's "standard bearer" for the DCUvCIN match is...the guy who got married (and divorced) from the DC edition of Love Island Blind. Tradition.
Took a few liberties with positions but this is generally accurate. Who ya got in this match? IMO, it'd come down to whether Lucho would influence the game more than Benteke. 2-1 FC Castoffs.
