More clouds, more rainy forecasts, no rain. Low water in the wetlands.

A small, murky pond surrounded by a 4 foot bare zone which would normally be under water. The bare zone is surrounded by many green plants, from grass and forb, to shrub, to tree, but they are parched, too.

Da baby painted #turtle 😍 If you zoom in, you can see it looking right at you!

A small, dark green turtle with its nose just sticking out of its shell tucked up on a foot trail among the grass, clover and wild basil. The turtle is about the size of a U.S. 50¢ piece.

A bold, orange mushroom nestled in the green grass. It has a flat, round top with a ruffled edge. There is a dark center spot with dark, dashed flares outward from the center. Nearly resembles the Eye of Sauron.

Tall, green, grass-like stalks that are definitely NOT grass with sprays of green spikes at node points near the tops of the stems. Much swampy stems and greenery in the background.

Whorled loosestrife #Wildfowers

Tucked between tall, green grasses is a multi-tier plant. It rises in levels of flat, green leaves, then small yellow flowers, then another tier of leaves, then flowers again. It's like a candle in the wetlands.

A small sapling has sprung up right next to the short stump of a dead oak tree. A mowed, green lawn stretches up to a house beyond the stump and sapling. Visible to the side of the sapling is part of the trunk of a much larger oak tree.

After a thaw and refreeze, the pond in the middle of a large wetland has melt circles in the snow covering the thin ice. Barren hardwoods and shrubs surround the pond. The snow has all melted except on the pond ice.
