yup. bad gamblers are all the same. they want to make it back the same way they lost it, they double down, they worsen their outcome distribution to bet on a long-shot that allows them to save face, they bleed (npi) to hold on to skew, they think they can just raise the stakes until opponents fold

i did some CUDA stuff last year, mostly for fun, and this was my eventual conclusion after actually doing the coding. The fortran (big deal still in those circles) HPC community is basically CUDA only, too from what i’ve seen
look, i get that it seems ridiculous to spend $30 for two-dozen colored pencils for a 4 year old but, hear me out here, you have to sharpen them like 1/10th as much, they last forever, and you never have to worry about sharpening only to break the lead or find out the lead is already broken inside

i just finished reading The Puppets of Spellhorst and The Hotel Balzaar to the toddler. Supposedly they are for kids7+ but I read them to a precocious 4 year old. These are books for people who love reading. The stories have depth and there is a lot of room for the reader to ponder make connections
couldn’t sleep so i made a new pillow case for the toddler, who has recently graduated to a big kid bed (a twin).
i live between the two big fires (about 20ish miles on each side, so no fire risk) and just look at the sky. first from this AM and next 2 from right now. it doesnt show on camera but everything looks orange like a creepy video game
