Only watched two movies this week (been sick and unwilling to spend time in my stuffy home theater/office) but they were really good!
The Nolan rewatch continues apace. Couldn't vibe with Inception this time but LOVED Dunkirk. Only Interstellar and Tenet left, neither of which I liked the first time I saw them. Hoping that changes this go around.
Scorcese-maxing at the Criterion sale. Last Temptations and Killers of the Flower Moon are still in the mail.
Not much happening on the movie front this week. Hoping to get through a sans-Batman Nolan rewatch over the long weekend, though. We'll see how I land on Inception, a movie I switch between liking and hating every time I watch it (and it's been so long I don't remember where I landed last time)
Not pictured: a bunch of movies I started and immediately turned off or half watched but didn't finish in my weekend quest to find a war movie that didn't suck outright or feel shockingly nihilistic.
Why am I completely unsurprised that the sort of kid who's in a position to get three fucking grand just for graduating high school is also the sort who would be so full of entitled resentment that they'd plot some terrorism.
Always a good time to revisit Who Goes Nazi and, well, take a look at our current tech oligarchs and tell me whether you think this holds up?
Or maybe, and hear me out on this, the problem is you and your parochial, antisocial party and its ethos of rejecting any kind of collective efforts at problem solving.

Not quite two years out, but I happened to be back in my hometown today, so I visited my dad's grave today and was pleased to be reminded just how close he wound up to the pond with the geese and swans. RIP, Owen.
Every time I hear about, like churches or political orgs that put out huge reams of AI slop to evangelize and advocate, this is all I can think about. Why would anyone find your cause persuasive if you can't even be bothered to make the case for it yourself?

I deeply regret deciding to go back to watch along with the @blankcheck.bsky.social Crocodile Dundee commentaries. I was having a really nice movie week before that (not pictured: Equalizer 2, Big Trouble in Little China, and The Mosquito Coast)
A very Dad Movie week for me (was going to go to Exit 8 for half price movie night, but to a nap instead).
Not a movie, but I spent a long time thinking I had dreamed the Red Planet animated mini series for the 90s until I stumbled onto it on YouTube in college.
I've only seen four movies with official 2026 release dates so far, but these are the top four on my personal 2026 list, which includes movies that got released into theaters in my city this year.
With Starman just off screen, I had a very first contact-y week in the movies
