We watched the movie, Giant, on a big screen last weekend at the Academy Museum. Then we drove home across the Baldwin Hills oil fields.

My husband tried the shrimp in a coconut curry with rice and beans. It was good, but not as good as the chicken. Fried plantains across a mound of rice and beans. Stew ladled around it.
I ordered the stew chicken, which is the top entry under favorites. It was so good. I selected rice & beans, Belizean potato salad as sides. The rice & beans & plantains could be a meal in itself. The chicken was so tender, the stew was perfect. The potato salad had a new-to-me flavor profile 👍
Took the K line to Little Belize restaurant in Inglewood yesterday. I gravitated to the table under the bicycle picture.

We walked over from 5th/Spring to 5th/Grand to catch the J home. We waited 6 minutes today. 30 minutes later, we're back at Harbor Gateway PnR. It was standing room only between 7th/Metro & Slauson. I guess about 100 people rode segments of this bus between DTLA & San Pedro. Buses Do So Much, BDSM

The gastronomy section of the Last Bookstore has a row pf remaindered copies of Grits for $10 each. I highly recommend this book. It's partly why I wanted to go back to Fixins and order their grits (they serve the real kind, not a supermarket facsimile).

The main reason I wanted to go downtown was to check out the energy of the fan zones and the open streets event on Alameda and a few other streets. Check out the art buses and the food trucks. Olvera street was hopping, too
While walking to 7th/Metro, we saw a guy using a tripod to take a picture of himself with the mural of Messi. He's wearing the same jersey! The transit gods were with us as a D train pulled up as we arrived at the platform
