Surprisingly, the main contenders were edged out by a barely known violinist who turned out to be first rate, but even so, very little of his music survives. like these.🤠

Just casually thumbing through my collection I can't find anything similar. Even Haydn maxed out at 3! However, there is a perceptible amount of galant idiom too. Nice! 🤠

There was a great amount of excellent flute music at the time, and Dan Laurin brings it to life in this album.🤠

I have to say, I got a bit of a surprise on first listen, as I was expecting more of Emanuel Bach's style, but got instead some rocking Baroque/Galant 🤠

As a teacher to the Royal Family in Berlin, and son-in-law of Franz Benda, he was a valued artist! 🤠

He studied with JS Bach, then with Emanuel Bach and Telemann before heading for Latvia where he disappeared. He left behind some superb clavichord Sonatas & Ariosos though...🤠

During Haydn's lifetime this was far & away his most popular symphony, it also served as my intro to the Master!🤠

George Gershwin is one of the few 'modern' American composers I'm really fond of. I always wondered why, but now I see my love of Bluegrass somehow figures in... 😎🤠
