A bad life choice came in the mail. I'm tired of fancy pricy keyboards with half the keys and being old "Just use overlays, bro." by SMEs when I complain. Why pay more for less?! A year waiting and a few hours of assembly, and now I have too many buttons! I now have to program most of them...

A repulsively large keyboard sits on a desk in front of a nest of assorted cables. Behind the keyboard is a Commodore 64. Slightly over half the keyboard's size.

The main key cluster contains additional keys with unclear labels, such as FUNCTION, BEGIN, and HYPER.

The cluster to the right is a common numberpad. The cluster to the left is completely foreign, including labels such as TTY, OZZY, and DEBUG. Random keys from other keysets are present due to a shortage of keycaps in the kit.

The top left cluster is mostly blank, and uses leftover keycaps from the keyboard kit. F1 and F2 are present.

The large top center cluster is completely blank with an exception of the bottom row, which has F3 through to F22

The top right is a mirror of the top left cluster, except F23 and F24 are installed rather than F1 and F2.

I know it looks bad in the last picture, but it gets better as the monitors warm up. I should change them but once they've been on for a few hours it goes away. And I never turn the computer off unless I'm away.

#SuperfluousMetadata Final day: A quick brunch with family Typical nonsense at the airport. 4 hours of multiple screaming infants on the plane. Infant threw small toy octopus at me. Finally home, and starting everything back up. A lovely trip all around!

A thin-bezel Westinghouse monitor is mounted on a monitor arm. Its display is unreadable. A small sliver of the display is rendering the expected grey. However, as further details are present, the rasterization catastrophically fails. A thin sliver of garbled imagery is immediately below the gray, only for a pattern of green vertical strings to appear from there onwards to the bottom.

#SuperfluousMetadata Late day 6: Sibling made lasagne. Went to a baseball game. 3/4 of the stadium left halfway through. Probably due to embarrassment. Had a brisket sandwich. Got harassed on the subway. A pretty good night, I must say.

Day 5: A light day today. Family member feels like shit. Saw some penguins, capybaras, and a beaver. Hopped on the train to Toronto. Too much liquor on the train.

Late day 4: Went on bus tour. Saw giant church. I was told I can't wear a blazer in these temperatures, and should get a "satchel". Looked at purses. Staff insist they're different. Sibling got a "satchel". Nothing bought, but am inspired. Satchel with belt loops? Went to comedy club. 90% funny

#SuperfluousMetadata Day 3: Went to an art museum. Made fun of the ancient Romans. Saw some neat exhibits. Got a bunch of wine and cheese and had a wine and cheese party. The lady at the fromagerie was excited by proxy. Had too much cheese. Regret nothing.

#SuperfluousMetadata Day 2: Ordered a meter of sausage at the restaurant. Was not judged for it. Confused and relieved. Walked around a festival for a bit. Learned the LRT is a lie and it's just a really long underground electric bus.

#SuperfluousMetadata Day 1: 5:00 in the morning, 3 hours of sleep, and a pint of beer sounded like a good idea. It's not, but I regret nothing.

I've been told I do too much in too little space, and I have to give something up. For the sake of organization and cleanliness. I said "Get out of my office-bedroom-gameroom-workshop."

A small workbench full of junk. Nestled in the corner is a small amount of storage, shelves, a miniature TV, and an oscilloscope.

Above the bench is a shelf with far too much on it.

Two monitors reside on the bench.

On the bench are a small prototype, and unfinished versions of the bespoke macropad in the big beige box picture.

Alright, Internet People. Who here has an 8Bitdo keyboard? I spent more time than I care to admit stuffing 4 Dual Super buttons onto a single PCB. All the macros for a quarter the desk space! I'm spinning a repo up soon for whoever is interested.

Now this... This here? This is the future I was promised. A fully autonomous, toaster oven sized, pancake cooking robot that runs on a standard north american household outlet. Two pancakes in around a minute and 15 seconds at the push of a button!

A commercial grade pancake cooking machine. It sits on a countertop, and could be overlooked as a toaster oven to rushed, bleary-eyed customers. Its entire chassis is built from stainless steel sheet metal, with a single glass pane so the hungry patron can watch their pancake form in front of their very eyes. Some slightly crooked vinyl decals are on important parts of the machine to indicate the manufacturer (QuickCakes), as well as it's single incredible feature.

It's a one-off, and you have to say how long it's active for each time you do it. It also maxes out at 4 hours.

A drop-down menu, which oddly is dropping up instead of down. On it are a series of time durations in 5 minute increments.

The same dropping-up-instead-of-down drop down menu, however, it is scrolled to the maximum duration of 4 hours.

Status update: This thing is heavy.

A fully assembled computer in an FLP02 case. The first two 5 1/4 inch drive bays have been occupied by an 8 bay SAS drive cage. The case's control lockout is in the locked position, with the key still inserted.
