I’m at the Cubs game. Against the Twins. Bottom of the 4th and the Cubs are destroying the twins. 9-0. Oof. Beautiful day though! Only a little smoky.
Years and years ago we were invited to an event to celebrate the opening of the SpaceX engineering office here in Seattle/Redmond. We got some champagne flutes to take home as a souvenir. To celebrate the IPO these are now going in the trash. 😂
I sat down with @cmcluck.bsky.social and Tim Porter from Madrona to talk about enterprise AI infrastructure and how we are thinking about it. We covered a lot of ground but here is a little snippet. Check it out! youtu.be/hCMwLSgEE3k Full transcript: www.madrona.com/the-best-inf...
This is going to be such a disaster. If they are pitching the IPO this hard… Or maybe it’ll become load bearing bullshit. I hate it here.
I’m thinking it is a carabiner with some Subaru keys? (Lifted from Reddit. Not sure original source)
A key diagram from the post. The "dangerous middle" is where you think something is well understood and ready to implement but there are hidden assumptions. With agents they can often create something plausible but wrong.
Here is the main 3x3 grid from that post. This is over twice as good as a 2x2 grid! Or perhaps more like a D&D alignment chart?
Made a bunch of tweaks including cover images and such so once the enhanced support in bsky lands, it should look like this.
Having a little treat after work. Some Malört served in its traditional glass: a urine specimen jar.
When Heptio was acquired by VMware we had to give up our downtown Seattle office. We had just gotten a new light up sign for the reception and no one wanted it so it has been sitting in my garage for the past 8 years. I have space now so just hung it up and it is magnificent.
If anyone here at #ATmosphereConf misses @krisnova.net I have some stickers to hand out.
I write talks by first writing a doc with an outline. Figured I'd feed that to gemini and let it create the deck. No go. We have a long way before the experience we have with coding agents can apply to other apps and domains. This should be a slam dunk but the plumbing just isn't there.
So much to see. But for me, the highlight so far was seeing the sunset in the Sahara after a camel ride. If you can get down to Merzouga and stay in a desert camp, it is amazing. It is a *long* drive though.
Making Ribollita for dinner. I you are also finding some calm and routine in this chaos.
So tired of Google just being broken by AI shit. It turns out that, in fact, the Moxa ioLogik E2200 does *not* support a restful API. *sigh*
Hey! Some friends of ours had their doggo, Goose, escape from a training place in Bellevue. If you see him let me know!
