Writer and city guy learning about astrobiology, Gaelige, and health when I’m not doomscrolling. Upstate by my definition. He/him.
Wishing my mom a very happy birthday. She deserves it after dealing with us all these years. Enjoy your breakfast out and then maybe treat yourself to some quiet reading time, emphasis on the quiet. 😄
Folks/y’all/guys/yinz, this is amazing news. Essentially, two of the main members of OTC had died during the making of this and their many friends in the Elephant 6 collective have helped finished it over the course of nearly 20 years. It was not a foregone conclusion it would ever be released.
National Treasure 360. ⭐️⭐️ Nicholas Cage returns as Benjamin Franklin Gates to steal back a rare Lincoln-autographed Xbox from the Russians, with devastating consequences for his family and the nation, in the latest installment of the popular historical thriller franchise.
A nice thing happened today. I had lunch with my folks and my mom gave me some baked beans from my great grandmother’s recipe (Grandma White, not Grandma Brown’s brand). She wrote my full name on the container like when she packed my lunch as a kid, because I’d be putting it in the work fridge.
Hoagie spread. My top-secret hotdog topping and sandwich optimizer. Here’s to Philadelphia on America’s 250th!
My electric chainsaw is busted, but I got most of this cut up with a hand saw before it got too hot. My neighbor had a small one-handed electric saw, but it couldn’t handle the large branches. I’ll hit up my folks for their saw for the trunk. Fortunately, the rest of the bush looks ok.
“This 4th of July weekend from Thursday, July 2nd through Sunday, July 5th, you can enjoy a special rate at all IONNA stations for just $0.20/kWh.” Great! Let’s see… Oh. OK.
Last year, I was in San Diego for work. While I do enjoy hanging out with coworkers at conferences, I also love going out on my own and exploring the cities in my free time. I had the best Mexican food at Taqueria Los Cuchys, took in the Embarcadero, went record shopping, and would love to go back.

Now it’s not so bad since I’m taking a break sitting under a tree in the back yard. Turns out it was the work that sucked. 😄

Barry’s Irish Pub’s spice bag was tasty. Spice spicy, not too hot. The portion size was perfect (pic doesn’t show all of it). It’s like a spicy poutine with chicken fingers replacing cheese curds. I’d love to try a poutine version of this.
It’s raining today. Rochester/Syracuse/Buffalo have ***the most number of days with at least a trace of precipitation in the country*** so far this year. Binghamton isn’t far behind in 7th. Stowe, VT; Caribou, ME; Marquette, MI; and Bradford, PA round out the top 8. Sry, can’t attribute to source.
Syracuse took their public ice skating rink and made it a roller rink for summer. Seems like a winner. If you can handle the insurance when people have sharp, slippery blades on their feet, you should be able to handle it for wheels.
