It's really fucked up how Olivia Rodrigo's new album retreats into further silence as she falls more out of love. It's eerie as shit. It feels similar to Everywhere at the End of Time by The Caretaker, especially with the way Olivia emphasizes "memories going dark" at the end of the album.

I feel like Edward Scissorhands botches the metephor so badly. In it’s bitter attempt to guilt regular people into empathy, it tells people who are different not to even bother with the world outside. Just isolate. They will use you and then try to kill you.
