It was great to see Scottish female 6J8 return to the harbour y’day having only been seen in Wales the day before. She was immediately joined by our male 5R0 and they started their weird head balancing game again. @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social @peter-purbeck.bsky.social @rspbengland.bsky.social
3 Osprey on a harbour nest platform a bit earlier including 022 defending the nest….although being several km’s away from his actual nest, an un-ringed adult female and a male (couldn’t read ring) @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social

Last night we got an amazing bit of footage from one of our Osprey monitoring cams at RSPB Arne with a Nightjar landing on a perch, before taking off & landing again before a shooting star then passes straight over!! @peter-purbeck.bsky.social @rspbengland.bsky.social @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social
First Grasshopper Warbler of the Autumn ringed in the Lower Piddle Valley yesterday morning by @edjbetteridge.bsky.social and @birdingfox.bsky.social
A decent 40 mins from the Ham Common view point this evening with a WT Eagle stealing prey off a Marsh Harrier out on the gull islands, 2 Marsh Harrier floating about the whole time and 1 Osprey hunting between Shipstal and Rockley. Not bad for an ‘urban’ site! @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social
4 White Storks flew over Corfe Mullen a couple of weeks ago and were photographed by Martin Shaw. This bird was ringed 'GB7Z'. Thanks to the @whitestorkproject.bsky.social for sharing info - a male from 2022 of the project who has since been resighted in Spain and most recently in France in January.
This intruder male Osprey visited the Carey Osprey nest this AM, with a distinctive broken P4 on the left wing, would be good to know who this is....likely 5H3 or 5H6, but could it also be 5R0 who we've not seen for several weeks, or someone else? @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social Photo: Heidi Styles
Lovely Summer Safari this morning with highlights of 2 Osprey (022 with fish), 3 Cattle Egret, 2 Marsh Harrier, 7 Spoonbill and 1 WT Eagle. We have some tickets remaining for our Summer Safars this week: www.birdsofpooleharbourbookings.co.uk/event/summer... 📷 Harry McBride - from a Summer Safari
@edjbetteridge.bsky.social and @birdingfox.bsky.social had a great morning ringing in the Lower Piddle Valley this AM with 108 new birds ringed, including the first Sedge Warbler of the Autumn and an amazing 34 Greenfinch, many juv's. Wing of juv male Greenfinch (left) and female (right)
Earlier this season RSPB Arne kindly allowed us to install a monitoring camera on a branch we know Ospreys like to land on to help us read ring numbers. Last night a Nightjar used it as a song perch just as the full moon was rising. Atmospheric! @peter-purbeck.bsky.social @rspbengland.bsky.social
Serene scenes across the harbour from our Sunset Safari Cruise last night! Great to see 022 out hunting in the Wareham Channel, plus Great White Egret, Yellow-legged Gull, 2 Spoonbill and Marsh Harrier among other highlights.
Another great record from @birdingfox.bsky.social and @edjbetteridge.bsky.social with a critically endangered Speckled Footman caught at a site close to Wareham yesterday.
Always amazing to track how quickly the Osprey chicks develop! Digi-scoped footage from an early-June tour highlights just how much they've grown since then (inset video from livestream cam today for comparison) Book onto our upcoming tours here👇 www.birdsofpooleharbourbookings.co.uk/home/ospreys
Female Red-backed Shrike at Swineham Point 11.55hrs, found from bird boat! ///porch.season.frog w3w.co/porch.season...
We recently supported on the ringing of Kestrel boxes around the harbour with @edjbetteridge.bsky.social & @birdingfox.bsky.social. Interesting observation at @careyssecretgarden.bsky.social with two Kestrel nests just 35m apart with 9 chicks between the two and one male servicing both nests.

We also ran our first Nightjar event of the season. We LOVE running these events and even managed a flight shot at dusk. Thinking of coming out birding with us? It's easy to view a month-by-month calendar of our upcoming events here 👇 www.birdsofpooleharbourbookings.co.uk/home/event-c...
...and it's always a thrill to bump into a White-tailed Eagle or two! Check out the size comparison of this immature eagle next to Mute Swan and a male Marsh Harrier in these images 👀
Here's a quick look back at some of our photos from an action-packed events schedule over the last few days. Our Summer Safaris have been fascinating with various Ospreys putting in appearances. Y'day we enjoyed watching 022 successfully hunt and narrowly avoid a persistent Great Black-backed Gull.
Yesterday we were out monitoring and ringing chicks from some of the Kestrel nest boxes we put up around the harbour a few years ago. Big thank you to @nationaltrust.org.uk Purbeck Countryside team and the ringers at @careyssecretgarden.bsky.social for supporting on this.
Our FINAL series of Carey Osprey Tours are now available to book for late-Jun & Jul. With all 4 chicks feeding well, now is a great time to visit! Fish deliveries have already increased as the chicks develop @careyssecretgarden.bsky.social www.birdsofpooleharbourbookings.co.uk/home/ospreys
Excellent Summer Safari this morning with highlights of Osprey catching a fish, 3 Marsh Harrier, 3 Bearded Tit, 2 Spoonbill, 1 Whimbrel and plenty of Terns. Last minute rescheduled trip tomorrow afternoon 1:30-4:30pm! 🛥️⬇️ www.birdsofpooleharbourbookings.co.uk/event/summer... 📸 - Harry McBride
