Mechanicum tech-thralls in all their grimdark glory. Very pleased with the subtle red hue of the trousers achieved with a light dabbing of burnt sienna where light would naturally hit. Excellent model for showing how to use a limited palette to good effect. #nerdlings #warhammercommunity

After some experimentation I'm coming to the conclusion that different colours if oil paint behave differently as can't seem to achieve the same effects with some that I can with others, specifically regarding staining the white basecoat. #nerdlings #artsky #hobby #painting

I'm particularly happy with the battle scarring and beads (which all had to be replaced because the originals were too big for the holes), but feel he could do with a touch more lean at the waist. A profusion of oath seals will be a signature of the force. #warhammercommunity

Experimented with drilling holes and adding beads to represent armour reinforcement on the dreadnaught chassis and shoulder. Will also add to the leg on that side too. #nerdlings

Construction completed and base textured. Not completely happy with the arms but I forgot about the shoulder pad limiting the arm pose until I had the rest of the sword arm built. Going to paint it in a gold scheme but using oils so waiting till you feel brave. #waehammercommunity #custodes

At the final stage of deciding what degree of subassembly it's going to be at when painting, but also debating how I want to paint it. Thinking a base of Retributor Armour gold then building depth with lots of oil & enamel washes. May do a couple of tests on other models beforehand.

90% of building this model is working out how all the arm/leg pieces need to be lined up to get them the model in the pose you want, since the super glue gives you only one shot at getting it right. Blue tack is your friend here, and pins are definitely worth the time. #hobby

There is a regrettable gap between the platonic ideal of a model part and the reality. I'll be carefully cutting a piece of plasticard to fill this gap and it's partner on the other side. After thorough checking this is the only such instance of this problem with the kit.

The casting channels are placed well enough to be worth mentioning and technically there are no mould lines to clean up. However a couple of the join points and areas where the casting was just fractionally off needed a dash of filler (thinned Mr Liquid Putty) before sanding (2000 grit) the edges.

Managed to find a Forge World Contemptor-Galatus for a surprisingly good price so new project found. Haven't worked with resin on this scale so will take it carefully and update this thread as I go. #warhammercommunity #custodes

AFAIK, Jes Goodwin came up with the design. This is the artwork of him (with pic of the model in corner) from The Gothic and the Eldritch artbook.

Real leaves which have been hand cut and embroidered and can speak for themselves. Not sure many have such a delicate touch.
