Baby dove feeding time! Also, my balcony is destroyed and I don’t know if I’m ever getting it back 😢
This little one is moving the wrong way- unless he’s got a rent check he’s not coming inside!
Baby dove watch- second day in a row they’ve been left alone, I can hear one of the parents cooing for them. I will hopefully (after some intense cleaning) have my grill back soon!
Came home from a week in Canada and my balcony has come to life! Two mourning dove hatchlings appear to be healthy and growing. Hopefully they’ll start flying soon, and I can have my grill back.
I don’t think Monie Dove has left the nest since I got back, and has stayed on top of the eggs for the past few days whenever I’ve looked outside. Of course the past two days have been perfect ‘sitting on the balcony’ weather but it belongs to the doves until the hatchlings fly away.
For the past 4 years my archnemeses have been the mourning doves that take over my balcony each spring. At first I was excited they sat on the railing and sang, until I saw the mess they made, so I started to shoo them away. Just got back from vacation and they said ‘checkmate, balcony’s ours’.
I am still a big enough rube to absolutely love when I can see the train I’m on from the train I’m on. Maybe not the most efficient, but Amtrak is still my favorite way to get to Cali from Chicago.
My company’s client conference starts tonight and I’m already biting my tongue in advance for all the ‘they don’t call it the Windy City for nothing’ comments that I will want to correct 🤐 It’s not called that because of the actual wind! It’s because our politicians are blowhards!
What could possibly be better on a beautiful 60° day than a run in a brand new pair of Pegasus?

It’s Friday! Today’s Handsome Harry’s Official™️ Pepper & Egg Rankings is from an old favorite on Cicero Ave, Roma's Italian Beef & Sausage. Eggs cooked fresh, inside of the bread lightly dipped to add some seasonsing & flavor, everything came together perfectly. My lunch was better than yours©️
It’s Friday! Today’s Handsome Harry’s Official™️ Pepper & Egg Rankings is this hulk from Bob-O’s Italian Beef. Wonderfully seasoned, red+green peppers, soft, dipped(?) bread that still made it through to the finish. Last year’s silver medal winner comes through again. My lunch was better than yours©️
Is it really St. Paddy’s Day without corned beef on rye and a trip to the voting booth?

Garibaldi’s in Hoffman Estates- great Turano bread, big squeaky peppers, and eggs cooked omelette style instead of scrambled. Not heavily seasoned, but still plenty tasty- my lunch was better than yours©️

Since the p&e sando was created by owners of Italian beef stands in Chicago as a way to use up bread and pepper during Lent when customers weren’t eating meat, I thought these Italian Beef flavored chips were a perfect pairing. It was a winning combo!
Lenten Fridays = Handsome Harry’s Official™️ Pepper & Egg Rankings. Walked over to Tony’s Italian Subs & Deli today. Big squishy peppers, perfect char on the eggs, and bread that’s firm and forgiving at the same time. As always this time of year, my lunch was better than yours!

Thankful for the little spot inside Ogilvie for allowing me to celebrate a favorite Chicago holiday, Pączki Day ❤️ Already ripped through the caramel apple and chocolate ones. Diet starts tomorrow, I swear!
On my way back home from a quick run to St. Louis and honestly, what’s better than Amtrak when it works as it should? From families playing cards, to people reading, sleeping, or watching a ballgame and enjoying a beer, so much better than the airline experience.
Millennium Park may be the only good thing Daley accomplished, but what a good thing it is. The free summer concerts are always incredible- watching Thee Sacred Souls tonight.
Rainy and chilly and doing a lot of walking? Clam chowder to the rescue.
Rainy vacation afternoons are best spent inside. Sacramento’s got some cool spots! ❤️
