Just spent a few days doing some training walks in the Brecons and this wildfire dominated both days. I know that ridge well and the valley below it. Just heartbreaking.
In a tiny campsite just outside Lamorna in Cornwall. The guy in the spot next to us just killed and dismembered a huge edible crab he'd caught, popped it in a pot over his BBQ and opened a bottle of something sparkling and rosé. He's absolutely living his best life. Just lovely.

Taking advantage of the cool morning air before the house gets shut up tight against the heat. Swifts screeching overhead. A wood pigeon cooing as it weighs down a branch in next door's cherry tree. I've decided to turn the radio off. It's grating against the morning.

We're in the process of renovating our kitchen and all of my cookery books except for three have been moved upstairs. This is one of the three that stayed in the kitchen regardless.
Finally got to the #SamuraiExhibition at the British Museum yesterday which was marvellous. Went on to the National Portrait Gallery and was captivated by this portrait of the 19th C boxer Jem Wharton. That stare is really something.
