TV writer, McSweeney’s contributor, father of four, loudmouthed antifa pinko commie lefty socialist who thinks everyone deserves equal rights. I know, weird right?
Read a LOT of sci-fi growing up but had never heard of Ubik (1969) by Philip K. Dick until my 15-year-old son called it one of his all-time favorites. Do yourself a favor and do NOT read the back of the book first. Just dive in and hang on tight. It’s a wild ride.
Pedro the Vast (2026) by Simón López Trujillo, translated by Robin Meyers is a little like the beginning of The Last of Us if that wasn’t a video game but a poem. A little fact, a little supernatural weirdness, some hallucinatory imagery.
How to Commit a Postcolonial Murder (2026) by Nina McConigley is such a fresh an interesting story. And the solution posed by the title ends up being quite a surprise. Not that the murder is the point of the novel. Because it’s about way more than that.
First off was Vigil by George Saunders (2026). Man, nobody loves the liminal space between life and death like Saunders. A great companion to Lincoln in the Bardo (2017).
Oh no! Rock is dying? This is the fourth or fifth time since the ‘80s that it’s died!
Oh, we should DEFINITELY rescue him then! I mean, what message does it send if we’re not helping our millionaires?
Sorry, had it wrong the first time. The Dodgers are 4-8 since visiting Trump. The Trump Sports Curse is real.
Thought I might pop down the street to pick up a book or two while I was in London and grabbed this new book by @dj-acid-reflux.bsky.social. Might crack it open on the plane ride home.
This is being passed around a lot today, so I’ll share it too. Whether or not Graham changed his tune because of dirt they had on him or because it just seemed more lucrative to do so, the outcome is the same. He was the worst kind of politician and most of his decisions hurt people.
Seven things I *need* to know? Why, that’s seven more things than I WANT to know!
Daddy’s home! And he’s not sure where home is or who all these people are!
I guess they’d better work harder to create a product people (billions of them) want to buy then, right?
Not sure what this guy is bringing to the World Cup conversation. Probably would’ve been better to have a soccer player.
This chyron is on point. This is how we should talk about the “imminent Iran deal.” Like, “Oh, we are 95% there? Again? Just like the last thirty times you told us that?”
I changed my mind! I think the fans at MSG should all do this when Trump shows up.
We said goodbye to our 18-year-old champion earlier this month. Hildegaard, Hildy to most, was the very best. Such a big part of our family’s life for so long. How lucky for us. How lucky for her.
