The antidote to current affairs, sharing the sillier side of the news. Seen a great story? Send it my way!

Unfortunately the thumbnail doesn't show it in all its glory, so here it is:
I've deleted last night's post because I've realised the website uses AI to automatically translate into English. As I don't speak Thai I can't verify (or trust) that any of it is genuine or accurate, and their disclaimer indicates they don't trust it either - so I'm erring on the side of caution.
For anyone interested, the story is genuine - it's from the pre-enshittified Washington Post in 2016.
Looks like it might be! Wikipedia has a "List of fake news websites", and this one is listed! It is in a Generative AI category, suggesting that they share stories made up by AI; obviously this one is too early for that, but we've all got to start somewhere. 🤷♂️ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...
Right, now we're getting somewhere. This is the most common form of this meme, but the bottom is always cut off. EXCEPT for one blog post I've found from May 2023 which shows the credit to 'COMEDY SLAM'. Now, who's that? maggiemcneill.com/2023/05/04/p...
I've found a LOT of hits on Reddit relating to that exact image, many of which date back to the last few years. I'm now determined to find out where this came from...
Okay, did *not* expect to see one out in the wild today! #AprilFools
Wow, how has it been a whole 5 years since this iconic moment?
I did a double-take when I saw this because I got a real sense of deja vous - turns out I'm not going mad and I'd shared a similar story a few months ago in the Old Place!
"Find me at INSERT LINK" 👏 This is like getting an email from Jeff Bezos where he forgets to ask for your account number.
Nice to see this absolute classic is doing the rounds again, originally from 2015. It always makes me smile fondly when I see an old headline pop up again.
