This isn't funny! Matt Goodwin only posts like this when he's very distressed.

Commentator Jon Worth asked Goodwin – a GB News presenter who ran for Nigel Farage’s party in the Gorton and Denton by-election in February – how much he stood to lose financially if Magyar strips MCC’s government funding, as he has threatened.

Goodwin has worked for MCC as a visiting fellow – a role that reportedly pays up to €10,000 a month. While Reform claimed in February that Goodwin previously served in the role for only a “brief period”, it appears Goodwin may in fact still hold the position. The page for the Budapest event states that he is an “author, political commentator, visiting fellow at MCC”.

Meanwhile, Goodwin failed to deny in response to Worth that he is still paid by MCC.

The EU’s most prominent right-wing think tank, MCC Brussels, is “pursuing a number of options for future funding” after the Hungarian government ordered its parent organization to close by the end of the month.

The Hungarian government ordered the dissolution of the Mathias Corvinus Collegium Foundation, effective July 31, according to a document signed by the office of Deputy Prime Minister Bálint Ruff.

The worst one might have been when Glasgow Labour threw away a council seat because their candidate would have been fine if she'd just /quit her job by the statutory deadline/

In December McNab, who was the newly elected Labour councillor for the ward, was blocked from taking her seat after failing to quit her job with the authority.

The Local Government Scotland Act gives council employees a working day to hand in their notice following an election win.

Following McNab’s Glasgow North East by-election win at ten minutes past midnight on Friday, November 22, she had until midnight 23:59 on Monday, November 25 to quit.

However, she failed to hand in her notice to the local authority. According to The Herald, McNab had consulted a line manager for advice as she had negotiated an early retirement settlement prior to her being selected as a Labour candidate.

It was reported she was concerned about potentially losing her so-called golden goodbye.

Glasgow City Council made clear that neither McNab nor Labour spoke to the Returning Officer or the local authority’s HR team regarding the issue.

McNab’s position was reportedly the first time anywhere in the UK that a newly elected councillor, who was also an employee of a council, had failed to quit their job – leading to senior officials at the local authority seeking legal advice.

After considerable time in office, the SNP’s position on energy remains unclear. We say we oppose the Energy Profits Levy and support workers, yet often rely on legal constraints and environmental rulings to avoid setting out our own long-term vision.

To many voters, it appears that the party is trying to occupy two positions simultaneously – rarely a winning strategy. The challenge for the SNP is that energy policy is not simply an economic issue in the north-east, it’s an existential issue.

So where do the SNP go from here?
The party should make it crystal clear that it does not have a policy of presumption against new oil and gas developments. Secondly, it should celebrate the contribution made by energy workers rather than treating them as participants in an industry awaiting closure. Thirdly, it should revisit policies that reinforce the perception that support for the sector is somehow illegitimate.

Most importantly, the SNP needs to articulate what energy policy would look like in an independent Scotland. Voters deserve to know how future licensing, investment, supply chains and renewable development would work together as part of a coherent national strategy.

"I have been clear that where those principles are not upheld, robust action will be taken," she said.

"If you go to university, you must be prepared to have your views challenged, hear contrary opinions and be exposed to uncomfortable truths.

"We are giving the OfS stronger powers on freedom of speech so students and academics are not muzzled by the chilling effect demonstrated in this case."

The OfS was given the power to issue fines where freedom of speech was not upheld at a university in January.

From the court judgement:

I have found for the University on Ground 6C. The Final Decision was vitiated by bias because the OfS approached the decision with a closed mind and had therefore unlawfully predetermined the decision.
