It’s time: there has been so much broken glass and shards of metal in the bike lanes on the Eastside that I’m going tubeless. First on my TR road bike and, if I like it, I’ll convert my commuter.

Took my friend to Vesper - his first time up there. Unfortunately it was completely socked in and he only got a brief hazy view of beautiful jade Copper Lake, but enjoyed the hike. It’s a difficult one with varied terrain and a snow field, but we’ve climbed many and glaciers together.

Took the Scouts on a 3-day backpacking trip in central Washington. Though a desert, temperatures were decent but very strong winds made for dusty conditions. It’s pretty for a change and was nice but I prefer the Pacific Northwest forests and mountains.

I love bantering with my “baby” sis - she’s 16 years younger.

You can include commit details via project settings. Pair that with an existing bot for PR format or just a simple GitHub Action - either of which some other projects use - and you could probably avoid the hassle and optics of not merging PRs.

Decent day for a ride - not too hot - and met a friendly troll, Jacob Two Trees. Also passed some marshmallow fields. Seems a bit early in the season for them, though.

We had cake to celebrate. 🎉 While it should’ve probably said “Rust SDK” or something (we’re the SDK team so it was probably assumed), it is kinda funny this was the day before actual Rust 1.0’s 11th birthday. 🥳

But there are no limits or obvious indications that someone edited their post via goat, pds.ls, etc. Not saying these aren’t good ideas, but about as secure as this gate. How would such a loophole be closed or, if useful functionality to retain, show indications of new CIDs in AppViews?

The Kraken-inspired theme was fun for a spell, but contrast was difficult on the eyes. Switched to a cooler palette for dark and light themes.

Making hanging shelves for my daughter’s room is a PITA, but I think they’re turning out okay. Drilling 6” (nearly) perfect holes took a lot of trial and practice. Many scrap pieces suffered.

We got a little wet this morning. Almost the entire trail was a creek. We all took a dip or two punching though snow bridges or slipping on ice. Stopped raining when we got back to the cars and blue skies after lunch. Figures. Still a good time. Taking an accidental dip was liberating, actually.

It's that time again. 🙄 Cleaning up is a multi-step process: heaths.dev/rust/2025/03... Many repos, many worktrees, and far too many caches that rarely, if ever, get cleaned up. Mostly #rustlang but a fair helping of #golang modules. Probably should set up a cron job to reclaim space more often.

I just went out and did that, too. One of our trees started blossoming last week and was drooping. Poor choice. I have a long poll arm so I was able to avoid most of the Cascade concrete falling on my head. Took our bigger dog out with me. He can be trusted off leash unlike our little fur ball.

Strange little puppy. My back hurts just looking at him. But, still. 🥰
