When the revolution comes I'll be in bed reading or playing a video game. Lecturer in film & media, writer, editor, feminist (NOT a terf), UCU rep. She/her #WIASN #WalkingSimulators
Finished reading another excellent novel from @orendabooks.bsky.social, 'The Betrayal of Thomas True' by A.J.West. A story of Molly Houses and gay men in 18th century London. A murder mystery, historical fiction, and a heartbreaking love story.
Thanks @kateweb.bsky.social I have added more notebooks to my stash!
I'm still plotting The Novel, and I think I might have a hairdressers in it because what might people do in the future? Will only rich people or people who love the past go to real hairdressers? Will everyone else have a machine (made by Ninja!) which will do it all?
In between final bits of marking and moderation I'm also attempting to clear up my study. I found a very old doll of mine. I think she's going to work with me to live in my office.
I'm feeding the cat frozen Dreamies yoghurt treats and he's had a cool shower - yes, our cat loves a shower!
Today's coffee and pastries with my elderly uncle. We're off to the local eye clinic for him. This is to fortify, and second breakfast for him.
So long as the Willy Wonka numpties don't have anything to do with it
I'm in the office today and it's the first time in three years of being in this particular office that I'm really glad there's a giant oak tree outside in full leaf that's keeping the room dark and cool. #AcademicSky
A pigeon is having a very leisurely bath and the cat is asleep upstairs in the cool.
New RSPB bird bath in the garden and the feeders taken down. Couldn't work out why no birds have appeared....
Looking on Kanopy again this evening for something to watch. This wolf has seen something good... 👀 Must be the British Historical Dramas. Probably Colin Firth in a wet shirt again.
@tokyosexwhale.bsky.social YAY!!! LOOK WHAT ARRIVED TODAY!! (Also will now be approaching people in the Trout 😀😉)
I've been working from home in the garden for most of today as the weather has been lovely but it's windy now. Everything is covered in a fine dust (is it sand again?) I don't really regard myself as a dusty old academic. #AcademicSky
Agreed. Here's a photo of my cat wearing a ridiculous collar of shame to provide some balance 😊
If you see this post an image you saved because it made you laugh.
Can't hear Size of a Cow and not be reminded of the Banana Splits #totp
Fergus the Bengal cat got his own way - the cone of shame is off. He shouted a LOT earlier this morning as he wanted to go out. Once outside he wandered around then, as I waited at the back door, he made eye contact and had a big poo on the path. He's very cross with me.
Poor Fergus has a Cone of Shame because his epilepsy meds make his face itchy and he's rubbed his eye raw.
All jabbed, getting a quick coffee on campus then getting antibiotics as recommended. #AcademicSky
