Did someone say #InternationalCatDay? To celebrate, here are four of the very, very many sweet cats I have met in Greece 😊💙🇬🇷
Watching Richard E Grant's Very Modern Odyssey on Ch4, and really enjoying these two standing in front of a Caravaggio discussing it, while lit in chiaroscuro and looking exactly like a Caravaggio 😁
But did see a small hillfort in the distance, from er, a pub (the Sun, Llanengan, proper village local 🍺) & took terrible photo. Castell Iron Age hillfort, Llanengan. The tall chimney was built during 19th C lead ore mining. Second photo with church, Heneb. coflein.gov.uk/en/sites/300... #Gwynedd
Terrible to find yourself on the Llŷn peninsular, North Wales on a sunny weekend in July, what can I say 😉💙 #Abersoch #ILoveWales
A little lone hare lolloping round the garden sampling various shrubs etc including the weeping pear, and annoyingly, nibbling the tops off a dianthus only planted recently 🙈 But how could I shout at him. 😍
Well it's a cool cloudy breezy summer evening and it feels like heaven 😄 #endoftheheatwave #cool #Cheshire
Someone getting ahead of the imminent #BayeuxTapestry bandwagon/juggernaut at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition yesterday 😁 'Bayeux Jaws' by Bronwyn Jones (nfs)
This was after I'd logged in at 12.15 and got given a random place in the queue when it opened at 12.30.
I have a card of that very view, bought years ago at the wonderful NT property Plas Yn Rhiw. It's a woodblock by Honora Keating (1892-1977), one of the three Keating sisters who lived there from 1938, devoting their lives to the protection of the area & donating their house to the NT in 1952 ♥️
While I was away, baby birds have fledged, the lawn has charmingly sprouted hundreds of daisies, the annual frothing of cow parsley in the lane has come and gone, everything's grown about two feet including the weeds, and the roses have gone for broke #gardening
This is delicious stuff btw, if you're in Lidl #Fridayfeeling #weekendwine 🤪
With a bulldozer no doubt. Despicable. #Israel #WestBank #genocide #historyerasure #archaeology
They also photographed great-granny Scott (a scan my cousin sent us) and much later my older (cough, MUCH older 😅) sisters at their Chester studio, again a nice little booklet with shots to choose from.
Thank you :) Can't immediately find that one but will, it's somewhere amongst three big boxes of old family photos. But did find these by them of my mum as a girl then a young woman 1940-42 ish, & a booklet of small photos. Marvellous art deco backplates! And you can see the studio name change.
That's the one!! Never knew my great grandpa sadly, he died in 1941. Here he is with great granny and all their grandchildren in 1933 (my Mum third from left, back row) Bill Scott the tall one next to her, became chairman of Everton Football Club. Liverpool's in my blood! ♥️
The mistle thrush nest up against the house wall is now empty of the three huge noisy chicks who were very sweetly stuffed into it. They're now following their parents around on the lawn for worm-catching lessons 💕 I love birds. Is it my age 😅
Hadn't noticed that blackbirds have nested again in a big potted box ball opposite the front door. Gave me quite a fright as I was watering when Mrs. Blackbird suddenly flew out in alarm. Have to creep up next time... Had a quick peep 🪺😍 #birdsnests
