The artwork behind my daughter during her elementary school play today is really neat. Howard Finster-Talking Heads-Little Creatures-like out of nowhere.
Ed Friendly and Michael Landon willed the original series into being but had a falling out early on. Friendly wanted a raw, more true to the books feel. Landon said he wasn't going to show children suffering - Friendly left embittered. Landon ended up being right.

I have not watched it but I figure Sandler is the closest thing the entertainment industry has to Michael Landon in regard to understanding his audience. He's relentlessly loyal and does his own thing. He also has his vices.
