111. Dragon Quest 1 (HD-2D Remake) I played the original NES one back in HS, and TBH it was kind of barebones, they did a LOT to puff this up to a modern game standards and its still super short by DQ standards. IMO they should have kept all encounters as 1 monster like the original
110. Jet Lag - Stateside Scramble I need Amy to be on more seasons she rules
Repeating W and OOO, OOO in particular made one of my best friends in uni come to terms with the fact he was bi bc of these dudes
109. Dimension 20 - City Council of Darkness Part of me wishes it was a full 20 episode season. The other part is glad it ended where it did because that meant I didn't have to suffer 6 more episodes of HJ Wingstreet.
107. Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love I know any adaptation is gonna lose a lot but this was. Mmmm. Yeah I preferred the original series by a mile.
I always assumed Gambit's at least was supposed to be like boxing headgear?
104. Macross Plus I joked that Top Gun copied SDF macross, but this really was just Top Gun the anime.
103. Ichi the Witch (Caught Up) Its fun battle shonen. Desscaras the character of all time
102. Super Dimension Fortress Macross. fuck, I gotta lay down after that one.
101. The Amazing Digital Circus I only watched the first few eps recently, I think the finale was Okay.
100. Sally the Witch It came up in a conversation during TTRPG this weekend, and I figured I'd give it a read bc its short. Really cute and episodic, it wears its Bewitched influence on its sleeve and that is fine. Wild that the manga was so short when its influence was that big.
99. Swallowing the Earth another tezuka manga from when he was trying to do more serious stuff/had that gekiga bug. A bit more levity than MW (not hard), but still kinda hard to recommend without a lot of caveats of it being "of its time"
98. Tono Monogatari Shigeru Mizuki's adaptation of an old folklore book. I could read him talking about old myths all day.
97. Taskmaster Series 21 I love when they get an American on and everyone is like "he is so famous" when they are barely a celebrity. Love you Kumail.
96. Ashita no Joe Everyone knows the ending at this point but that's all I knew going in. What a fucking ride. They really said "combat sports will chew you up and spit you out and leave you with less than nothing but you'll do it anyways."
95. Terra E.../Towards the Terra I somehow went all this time not knowing this existed when it is extremely my shit. Kinda like the best of the newtype aspects of UC Gundam with vibes of Childhood's End
94. Penguin Colony (demo) Finally a game brave enough to ask "what did the penguins think about those dudes losing their mind to Lovecraft shit in the antarctic?"
93. Dragon Quest III: HD-2D Remake I actually had never played the original, or the SNES/GBC remakes, but like, its DQ3 its DNA is in literally everything it is *the* JRPG. I liked the midgame/Orbquest the most, but the Underworld stuff I felt myself rushing through bc I just wanted to be done.
92. The Company of Wolves Absolutely buckwild Lynchian ass take of Little Red Riding Hood, and also Angela Lansbury is there
