We stand for a world where ALL displaced populations can find welcome, safety, and opportunity.
Today, we honor the humanitarians. The people who work tirelessly to make sure the most vulnerable populations have access to their rights. The teams who do all they can to build towards a world where ALL are welcome 💙 #WorldHumanitarianDay
Colombia was hit by a powerful 7.4 earthquake yesterday in the San José del Palmar. Tremors were felt as far away as Venezuela, Ecuador, and Panama. As the death toll continues to rise, our hearts are with our colleagues, families of those who have lost their lives, and everyone impacted.
Legislation to restore TPS for Haiti has passed the House of Representatives, and the Senate must pass it now before it's too late. We have three days to take action. Call your Senators by July 27 and DEMAND to restore TPS for Haiti today.
While a recent Supreme Court ruling directly impacts 356,000 people, the Trump administration is likely to use the ruling to go after over 1 million TPS recipients. Learn more about TPS: https://hias.org/news/deep-dive-temporary-protected-status-tps/
For more than half of our country's history, HIAS has been there to welcome millions of new Americans with hope in their hearts for a chance at a new beginning. Our country has welcomed immigrants & refugees for generations. It's their stories and contributions that have made this country great.
Communities in Venezuela were hit by two major earthquakes last night, with one being the largest to hit the country since 1900. Our hearts are with everyone impacted — as the full scope of this crisis comes into focus, we will be there to support our clients & communities when they need us most.
Repeat with us: everyone deserves to find welcome, safety, and opportunity. No matter where they are from.
Join us on June 17th for an important and timely conversation hosted by World Jewish Relief USA in advance of World Refugee Day. We'll explore how refugees move beyond immediate safety toward dignity, employment, and the rebuilding of their lives: https://bit.ly/4xhS6FX
We will always stand with displaced queer and trans people 🏳️🌈 In a moment filled with darkness and uncertainty, Pride month celebrates joy as resistance. That's why we continue to work towards a world where ALL people are welcome and free to be exactly who they are.
The lesson of the M.S. St. Louis is clear: when we deny safety and support to those seeking refuge, people die. When our government slams the doors shut on today’s refugees, when our leaders instill fear within the inhabitants of this land, we have just two words: Never Again.
As we continue to witness the devastating impacts of anti-immigrant attacks in the U.S., it can feel overwhelming to find effective ways to take action. But every action counts, no matter how small 🫂 https://hias.org/how/support-our-immigrant-neighbors/
Our thoughts & support are with the Islamic Center of San Diego and all those affected by today's tragic attack. As a Jewish & humanitarian organization that has worked side by side with the people of San Diego to welcome & support refugees and immigrants, we are particularly saddened by this event.
A new rule from DHS requires asylum seekers to pay an annual fee to keep their application active. If they can't pay, they could face an immediate application rejection & deportation. This rule treats asylum seekers as a funding source for enforcement — not as what they are: people fleeing danger.
"Yom HaShoah calls us to do more than mourn. It asks us to remember — not just suffering, but resilience. Remembering my grandfather's story & others like it, is not only an act of memory. It's a commitment: to ensure that the door to safety stays open & that no one has to face the world alone."
The recent rhetoric from the U.S. government threatening that "a whole civilization will die tonight" is horrifying and unacceptable. Since the beginning of the war, innocent civilians have already paid a heavy price — thousands being displaced, injured, and killed. Let us be clear ⤵
Our social media manager is out but this reminder couldn't wait. No matter where you're from — every single one of us deserves to live in safety and with dignity.
As DHS deploys ICE agents to airports across the country with little to no training to support TSA staff, it's unclear whether the new mandate will also include immigration enforcement. This does not make us safer. www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...
The news of the attack at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, MI is nothing short of terrifying. Our hearts are with the greater Detroit community & our friends at Temple Israel, who are in shock today as another antisemitic attack on a Jewish institution and Jewish way of life makes headlines.
Over 1,100 American clergy across all Jewish denominations unite to stand with refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants. Together, they affirm our core Jewish values that declare our responsibility for the dignity, humanity and rights of ALL who dwell within our borders.
Civilians across the Middle East are living in fear as ongoing conflict puts countless lives at risk. We're closely monitoring the impact on our staff & clients at HIAS Israel and around the world. Our hearts are with civilians throughout the region as we fervently hope for a more peaceful future.
Yesterday, HIAS proudly joined dozens of Jewish organizations in Washington, D.C. to protest immigration enforcement tactics that have brutalized whole communities, and left immigrants and refugees in terror across the country.

In the past few weeks, the Trump admin has targeted refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants, throwing hundreds of thousands of people into fear and trauma. Let's be clear: refugee rights are human rights. We all deserve the right to safety, home, stability, and community.
Don’t let hate win. Instead, we need to stand up for humanity and for displaced people who just need a helping hand as they rebuild their lives. Share with someone who needs this reminder.
One year later, the attacks haven’t stopped. But neither have we ✊ will you join us?
New USDA guidance makes it unclear whether refugees, asylees & SIVs with green cards will be forced to wait 5 years for benefits, despite U.S. law saying they’re exempt. This uncertainty is leaving families in limbo & prompting some states to consider blocking Legal Permanent Residents altogether.
Every action, no matter how small, helps make our communities stronger 🤲 Repost to share this important reminder.
